         <description><![CDATA[<div>     The author feels that nature and the Earth's resources are special and important.  The author explains that he and many other people were upset by the decision to allow people to drill and mine the Otero Mesa.  He also explains that people were afraid that the plants and animals would be harmed. People who wanted to save the Mesa began to write and sign petitions to stop the drilling and mining. It worked and people today are still trying to keep safe and protected. </div>]]></description>
