         <title>Collaborative Learning - I successfully used the ITL rubrics to explicitly teach students what collaboration and participation looks like (year 9). Students really engaged with this once they realised that they had to account for their part in the collaboration. The resultant work was great. </title>

(Elmore, 2004).  There is a significant body of research that Collaboration amongst teachers leads to improved outcomes for both students and teachers (Hattie, 2012). </title>

         <title>Learning space is important but relevance of learning is critical - need to be sure that  learning makes sense and has purpose -students no longer will just do something because the teacher said - has to be relevant -  need to teach skills such as collaboration - can not just assume or expect students to be able to naturally collaborate - cooperative learning skills are a great starting point </title>
