When the lyrics describe that the lady is missing, there was only one vocal singing, as opposed to the multiple people singing simultaneously, it makes the fact the lady was missing stand out more.
When the lyrics describe how the man went up and down to find his lover, the lyrics were sung at different ranges: “up” sung at the highest note, and “down” sung at the lowest note to emphasise the man’s movement going up and down.
The tempo became quicker and quicker during the part where the lyrics describe the man wandering to find his lover.

the pitch follow up and down. when there is an up sound the pitch becomes higher and when the lyric is down, the pitch becomes lower. It also suits the lyrics because when the lover panics while searching for the writer, with the faster tempo and higher intensity (shows climax).
