These videos are not drill and practice, nor are they multimedia since students just sit and watch, but these videos are filled with information in an engaging way. The hosts of the videos are charismatic, quirky, and engaging. They include multiple bits in their videos that make the views giggle, scratch their head in wonder, and make them understand the material in different ways. These videos hook their viewers and make them want to continue watching and learning. Due to the fun parts like the mail, the thought bubble, and the animated clips, viewers are engrossed in the video and continue to go back for their educational videos.

Crash Course does have some cultural relevancy. To help include more than English speakers, they have a whole playlist that is in Spanish for people who speak Spanish. Since these videos are also on YouTube, there are options for closed captioning in which you can change the language to one that you speak. This material can be accessed by all sorts of people. There are also new parts of the channel underway created by non English speakers like the Arabic reworking of the World History Series. Lastly, since these videos are educational, the creators will make the characters (the animated avatars acting out the history, science, literature, etc.) culturally appropriate.

Since these are videos available on Patreon and YouTube, these cannot be personalized to specific students, though, in your settings, you can change the playback speed, the captioning, and the sound level for students. This is how the programs individualize student/learner needs.

Pros & Cons & Recommendations

This program has far more pros than cons. These videos are vast in their content, age appropriateness, cultural relevancy, and engagement. These videos work well for anyone in any content trying to learn something from a specific war to going to college. There are few cons, but it is hard to individualize the content of pre recorded videos for learners. We have to settle for the settings of the videos' playback and captioning. This is the only downfall. I do recommend these videos for ANY teacher or school to use. The pros far outweigh the cons of this program and students will greatly benefit from the content within whether it is teachers using it to supplement their lesson or to teach a lesson.
