Billie’s perspective on ma’s death: Billie Jo is incredibly and slowly taking her time at finding strength in herself after losing her mother and little brother making sure she doesn’t ’‘look back at anything” and that she keeps going through all her traumatic hardships.

Billie Jo’s perspective really changed when her mother died. For example, Billie Jo “Never got a chance”(Hesse,69) to tell her mom her apples were gone. Because she was protecting her mom’s apple trees, she couldn’t get water in time to save her mom and the baby.
