They like to hear about and talk about what has happened since they have been asleep. His point is that they didn't have newspapers or Tv so the only way they would know is if they heard about it so they were always trying to get news around the globe. these two examples show "free thought", first one shows how being the guy in the spotlight isn't that important to him, he'd rather be the background guy instead. nearer to one another. . . ." .He also sees the world is isolated from the other planets in the milky way, and it seems to be fine on its own so why not strengthen his self instead of having distractions like people. He wants have a deeper understanding of his self.
