  1. Edna hears an artist at the piano, and it was the first time she was ready to hear one. It was perhaps the first time her being was tempered to take an impress of the abiding truth.
  2. Edna hears Madamoiselle Reisz play the piano and begins to tear up. "The very first chords which Madamoiselle Reisz struck on the piano sent a keen tremor down her spinal column."
  3. Chopin is showing Edna's change and how she is becoming more open to her world. She is showing that Edna is understanding beauty in her life.

  1. She's more confrontational and stands up for what she wants to do. She has more control over the situation. 
  2.  Leonce says it is cold but     Edna says she has her shawl. Edna refuses to go inside until she is tired.
    Edna asks Leonce if he is coming inside.
  3. Kate's intent is to show the reader that Edna is starting to follow her own interests and think for herself. She is becoming her own person.

Edna talks to Madame Ratignolle about her attitude towards her children. 
Madame Ratignolle strokes Edna's hand and she does not resist. 

3. Chopin wanted to reveal more information about Edna; she wanted to hint at the beginning      of her awakening.

Her confidence increases after successfully swimming  and she now thinks she can do anything.  

  2. She swims far out which she has never done before and she says that "a thousand emotions have swept through me," telling us that she feels confident and stronger.  

3. The author's intent is to show us that Edna is becoming a stronger woman. She does things in chapter 10 that show us that she is becoming independent and strong.
