The South fought and won the first battle of the war, The Battle of Bull Run. Both sides Imposed a draft. Farragut Captured New Orleans. McClellan started the Pennsylvania campaign but Robert E Lee Forced him to retreat. During the war the south suffered food shortages and low morale. Where as the north was in an economic boom. In 1863, The North passed the union conscript act. African American Men and women served in the war effort. Prisoners of war suffered terrible. When General Grant captured Vicksburg severing the Confederacy in two. The south went into a downward spiral until Lee was defeated at Gettysburg. Robert E Lee surrendered at the Appomattox and the war was over. Shortly afterword. President Lincoln was Assassinated.

Historical summary:

The American civil war was the bloodiest conflict ever on American soil.
