The focus was on making sure everyone was on schedule with quality HPL lesson plans being incorporated into the AE department's schemes of work as well as preparing them for the upcoming accreditation visit to the school.

Students design a new book cover for their favorite book and they write a new persuasive blurb for the back of the book. This was one of many activities during the day designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and a passion for reading. The link above is a video chronicling the event. At around 1:47 you can see me commenting on student engagement during the event.

These next two entries go together as one piece of evidence. They are grades for the SAT prep class students, term 1 on the left, term 2 on the right. This class was considered to have an English level too low to succeed in the class, however the students and parents were interested and so the school let them try their best in the course, believing they could rise to the challenge. If you direct your attention to the "mock test" sections, these are practice SAT grades. These low performing students showed massive improvement on scores out of 66 from their first term mock tests scores to their second term due to hard work and perseverance.

This second picture shows the same thing but this time for the students who were considered "high performing". Their mock tests also show great improvement from term 1 to term 2, showing that regardless of starting point, improvement and high performance was achieved on a challenging task like taking the SAT as an ESL student. Very proud of both of my classes SAT 1 and SAT 2.

This is an example of the HPL leaderboard at the school. during the year, every class, the teacher marks student performance on the behavior rating system. If a student gets an excellent, the teacher is then prompted to choose which ACPs or VAAs the student exemplified to earn this praise. Points for EACH ACP and VAA are then compiled into a leaderboard earning students recognition for their strong HPL competencies. Parents have access to this and can track student progress. My students often appeared high on the leaderboard for the AE classes due to my consistency in promoting HPL themes in class.

An incredible showcase of a student's growing intellectual confidence and perseverance. She has a passion for writing and wanted to write a mystery novel, but this presented a daunting challenge for a 10th grade ESL student. She mentions here that she only started writing it this year, and it's now a nearly complete full length novel. She even plans out her chapter release schedule. I am very proud of this student for the work she put into this.
