Small business characteristics
- small businesses do not need to spend as much as other larger businesses. This is because they cost less to operate as there is less stock to supply and buy for. As this is the case the profits and revenue will be less.
- Smaller business means smaller market. This is due to the fact that there may only be one or two stores for the business and within the local area. The market they are able to reach is not going to be as vast as the larger companies working and selling in the industry.
- as well as having to spend less as a smaller business, they also generate less income/revenue from the sales that are made from their specific company

Small businesses have a few characteristics that distinguishes them from other, bigger companies. For example they have lees cash to operate, or a lower capital. This means that they start off with a lower balance to spend inside the business. Small businesses also target smaller and more local audiences. This is so they can accustom for the needs of a lesser amount of people, instead of having to have everything on offer, for all types of people.

Smaller businesses have fewer stores, as their capital is not a massive amount. It is also a lot easier to manage a few stores rather than a whole plethora of stores scattered around the country. Smaller businesses are usually classified with less than 20 employees. Yet again it is much easier to manage 20 employees than a couple hundred.

Small businesses have multiple characteristics that distinguish them from larger companies and businesses. Small businesses typically have lower revenue and profitability compared to large scale organisations. This is due to the possibility of low supply, meaning that less can be sold or the company could be unknown which provides less customers. They have smaller teams of employees since the amount of work needed to be done is typically less and if you have a larger work force, the amount of money dedicated to paying the workers is increased.

Small businesses usually have a smaller market area since their first location might be secluded if the funds for buying a location are minimal. But if its an online business the location of where they store their product might also be limited if they’re trying to sell stuff that mightn’t fit into their own home.
