         <description><![CDATA[<div>An airport is made up of two main parts- the airfield and the main terminal. The airfield comprises of three main areas- the runway (where aircraft take off and land), the taxi-ways (where aircraft move between the runway and the ramp) and the ramp where aircraft "park" whilst they are on the ground. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This is an airport ramp and is where aircraft are serviced whilst on the ground. When an aircraft comes onto the ramp, it moves on to a stand and comes to a halt near the terminal building. The stand is the aircrafts parking space and the number of the stand corresponds to the boarding gate. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This is a Ground Power Unit (GPU). This is used to provide the aircraft with power when the aircraft engines are turned off. It is connected to the aircraft via a cable. Some aircraft don't need access to a GPU as they have an in-built GPU called an Auxiliary Power Unit (APU).</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>These wooden blocks you can see in the photo are called chocks. When an aircraft comes on-stand, a member of the Airfield Operations team will place these chocks under the wheels when the aircraft has come to a complete standstill. These chocks ensure there is no movement of the aircraft whilst on the stand. You will often encounter "on-chocks" and this refers to the time the chocks were put in position. "Off-chocks" relates to when chocks are removed. </div>]]></description>
