2. I think that the bible is suppose to symbolize the spread of Christianity. I think the dark clouds represent what settlers think the west is currently and the angel is suppose to represent the "enlightenment" the settlers bring. I think trade was a big part of settlement in the west and the trains helped a lot with that.

3. I wonder how Christianity became so popular and how it survived the journey to the west. I wonder why the settlers felt that they had to drive the Native Americans out and why the animals are so scared of the settlers.

I see prairie scooners and an angel pulling a telegraph. I can also see the Continental railroad being build. I can see the big cultural difference between the two. You can see the settlers farming and agriculture way if life and the native Americans nomadic way of life.
I believe that this painting had a lot of symbols that mean something else. I think that the angel represents how god set them on a kind of quest to capture more land. I also think that how the light is moving with the settlers shows that the settlers are the good guys in the painting.
I had one wondering through out the painting. I was wondering what was going through the native Americans head?

  I think that this panting is trying to tell us something. I belive that the person who painted this was bias because they are clearly on the settlers side. The settlers are on the sunny side of the sky and the natives are on the dark side. The painter most likely but the natives on the dark side of the sky because he must think they are bad or evil. I also think that this painter was very religious because if he is supporting the settlers he most likley supports and belives there religion.
