Students spread around the room. The teacher makes a sign or spells a word – students put their hands up if they know. The first hand up to get it right moves one step closer to the nearest person standing next to them. The goal is to tap the others on the shoulder and put them out of the game. The last person standing wins. Once students have chosen a spot they can't move. You can also offer more steps for harder words or to quicken the game to an end.
