- Children can help to make den using materials such as paper, tarpaulin, leaves, grass, trees, rope. Focus on fine motor skills for example tying knots, picking grass, decorating their den.

The children must then go around the setting (supported by an adult) and find the lady birds that are hidden. Once they have found the lady bird they need to count how many spots is on that lady bird and then tick the corresponding lady bird on their chart. The activity is complete when all lady birds have been found.

The teacher may even pass around objects such as ice cubes, water, sand, or a hot water bottle to reinforce what the temprature / environment is like.
In the middle of the circle is a pile of clothes. Including: hat, scarves, gloves, swimsuit, sun glasses, sun hats, umbrella etc.  Children take it in turns to be chosen to go in the middle of the circle. The children who are not in the middle are shown the climate picture they must communicate to the child in the middle what they need to wear for this type of environment and the child in the middle must pick these out and put them on over their clothes.
Teachers can promote discussion through any disagreements and relate it back to the resources used at the start of the session.
Key questions: Why do you think you should wear that for this environment? What is the weather like today, do we need our coats?
