I praise my Ss to recognize their effort and how much it means to me. With my math Ss I have them practice multiplication facts by creating math charts at home. When they bring them back they get small prizes for each one they make. They receive ribbons and prizes for passing checkpoints and tests to show how proud of them I am. They recieve Dojo points for good behavior. As a homeroom teacher I always enforced the things they can could buy with their points and would post the menu so they could see the different things they could buy.

As a homeroom teacher I would communicate with parents every week through Remind and a monthly newsletter. This would make them feel more involved with what was going on at school. This year it is a little tougher for me to communicate with parents but would like to send home more positive notes. This is on my to do list!

Honestly I don't think I do enough to show that I think my students and their parents are important. I've always struggled at maintaining parent relationships but want to get better at that. I want to create a monthly log and talk to parents briefly to thank them for trusting me with their students. Secondly I want to sit down and talk with my "difficult" kids. I know that their issues stem from issues that I've never experienced, but I let it get to me and I give up on them. I want to take the time and get to know them more in class and outside of class

Something that I make a priority is that I know each and every students birthday. I post their birthdays on the calendar in my classroom and I also make sure the we (class included) tell them Happy Birthday. I understand that their birthdays are announced at Jowell but they look on my calendar to make sure their birth date is marked.
