This painting is by Richard Diebenkorn who is one of my favorite artists. I love the way he uses color and the abstract style of his artwork. I see this painting as a depiction of landscape, seen from above. I like that there’s a lot of space in this composition for interpretation.

This was a recent discovery of mine that just became an instant favorite. For his last 4 films, director Sean Baker used the same font. Not just for the titles, but for the credits and promotional material. While the films are all completely different, I like how just using the same font connects them. I also love that it wasn't intentional, the first film that did this just chose the font for necessity and it solved a similar need for the next and now it's a signature. Even with slight changes, you know it's the font and you know who it's from.

I love Jorge Gutierrez's work. If you didn't grow up with El Tigre or have seen The Book of Life, I highly recommend them. Not only are they great, but Gutierrez's art style is sick. This is a painting he did for an art show and these words were said to him by a studio exec when he was making Book of Life, a film set during the Mexican holiday, The Day of the Dead. His style is just so unapologetically Mexican. I remember hearing him talking about finding his art style and using his experience and his life as inspiration. I love the colors and how it almost act as a "iykyk". He's making fun of this strange comment he received while also proudly showing the art that he made and is continuing to make without muting his authentic voice.

When I was trying to think of a vintage ad I liked, I couldn't pin point one that stood out. I like the overall aesthetic of them, but this one is a favorite of mine. The bright colors make you remember it. I love the contrast between the warm red background and the cool blue. Also I love that they made this book cover look like a movie poster. The book is set in the 50's so the vintage movie poster look fits beautifully. Plus, the added details of the fold lines and scratches. It's the cherry on top.

I admittedly had a hard time thinking of a fine art piece that I like. I'm not too well versed in art, but thankfully I had a postcard of this one on my wall for a bit of inspiration. A few years ago I flew to San Diego to visit some friends for the first time and the first thing we did was go to the museums in Balboa Park and afterwards we got postcards to remember our favorites. This one I liked because of the dress. I loved the details in the sleeves and how the light reflects on the fabric. I think as a sewist (someone who sews, I know the word is weird lol) I think pretty clothing just speak to me. Now I see this piece everyday and am reminded not just of that trip, but of this pretty portrait.

This is a painting by artist Đoàn Nguyên, who calls himself a "madman." He often appears disheveled, dressed in tattered clothes, with long, unkempt hair and paint stains covering both his attire and body. Yet, his paintings embody what he describes as "absolute artistry." I admire both his madness in daily life and his artistic creations, especially this piece, "Đánh Chuông" (Ringing the Bell).

With a one-point perspective and a dominant warm color palette, the harmonious use of tones and shading creates depth and intensity. I can feel the burning energy and sense movement within the painting. Despite its vast space, it conveys the solemn and tranquil atmosphere of the monks as they strike the bell.

I like this typography art because it brings balance to the overall composition. The word "The" is displayed in a different font and slightly overlaps the other letters, making it look somewhat disconnected at first, but it actually works well. The color choice isn’t pure white (#0000); instead, it has a slight gray tint, which gives the whole piece a warm feel. It almost feels like my significant other and I are sitting inside the artwork itself.

I like this painting because I done in my art history class last semester and I like the the symbolism that they use to show that loves combats war as Venus is the Roman goddess of love while Mars is the Roman god of war with his sword and shield are laid on the floor while doves are coming together into a small nest as it shows both Venus and Mars are at peace with each other. what I found interesting is that it shows Mars in a different light has he is know to be a warrior and a symbol of war while in this painting his defiance is lowered and he's relax after a night with Venus.

Water Lilies is one of my favorite Monet paintings and even just impressionist paintings in general. I even have a poster of it in my room. I love the colors used to portray the water and shadows, and how the hues are muted but it doesn't look dark or muddy. This piece makes me feel peaceful when i look at it, as does the rest of Monet's art. Another 19th century artist, Renoir, comes to mind as I also enjoy his works.

This piece resonates with me on a deeper level than other works of fine art for a few reasons. Firstly, most artists paint beauty in the world, but this piece really invokes tragedy and horror, which is impressive. Secondly the mastery of the background is astounding, the way the wall gets subtly out of focus gives it a sense of realism and location.

This illustration gives me a sense of wonder and awe that I often get after hiking to a good view. The ability to tell a story without a single character and sky setting is impressive. Someday I hope to be able to draw as well as this, so looking at this piece inspires me. Additionally the way the hue of this piece is more on the cool side despite the sun lighting the piece gives a feeling of early morning, providing more to the setting of this illustration.

I like this sunset in this picture, it has all the colors like yellow, red, and orange. I often think that sunsets are stunning to see even if there were clouds around. Looking at pictures like this reminds me of evenings that have nothing but peace and quiet, or when I am out traveling. This painting was done by Claudia Monet back in 1908, called Twlight Venice.

There are still some elements of the traditional style but I think the way the artist integrated his style with it it is so beautiful. The colors and composition of each card is reminiscent of traditional decks but the artist has added his own whimsical and flamboyant touch to the illustrations.

I recently went to see her perform and I was very happy to see and impressed by the design of the promotional ads and merchandise. Usually concert merch can be a bit plain but it seems like her company put a lot of effort into making cool, eye catching designs. I think the fonts used, especially for her name logo, are helping to solidify her brand as an artist.

Like I mentioned before, I think the fonts that are being used are really solidifying her identity and this is another example of it. In my opinion her logo is very eye catching and striking without being too busy or hard to read. I also really like how on the bottom of the cover her eyes are in place of the 'O's in 'LOOP'.

I had such a hard time picking a textile I like. I think it's because I sew and I'm used to seeing textiles as materials and not as the art itself. I also had to separate the art from the practice. Finally I went back to the drawing board (Pinterest) and found this beautiful piece. I will always appreciate bead embroidery because I don't have the patience for it and I also live how they were able to mimic blood drips on the veil. I tend to be very nitpicky with my art so I struggle to make things look organic and that organic nature of the "blood" is what really catches my eye. Also, who doesn't love a bit of sparkle.

His artwork has an incredible amount of range too, from portraits to occultish pieces he uses the same methods to create vastly different pieces. May of his paintings have a really noticeable use of contrast and depth, he puts a lot of focus on even the smaller background details.

This is one of my favorite artworks I've seen because of the many details added like the texture of the buildings and how there's different colors to each building. Especially to add in the many people and animals to the painting. The values make it so much better as well as they're placed inside the windows and on the edge of them to make the whole painting stick out. It's just beautiful work.
