During my trip to Korea, our family visited our grandmothers farm. In her farm, my sister and I went to pull onions out of the ground. This photo reveals that people will always rely on planet earth to provide them with the necessary produce we need to survive.

The organic ginseng root that my father is pretending to eat is from my uncle's garden. Located on the side of a steep mountain, the environment that supports this root allows my uncle to grow multiple ginseng over a period of 7 years. In order to profit off of this expensive root, my uncle relies on the mountain side environment to provide the plant with the necessary nutrients it needs.

Human Population Growth

In this photo taken 15 years ago, lies a true statement. As life expectancy for humans have increased significantly, the growth of human population have increased as well. Seen behind my family is a packed parking lot in which it reveals the amount of people who own and use cars. This fact also reveals that many of these cars, such as the mini vans, are owned by families with more then two people. If this reveals the amount of people living and emitting carbon dioxide to the environment 15 years ago, this means that the there are even more people now who hurt the environment by using transportation. Thus, the increased population means that their are more human activities that are hurtful for the environment.

Behind me and my sister, is the Han River. This river used to be without the bike lanes seen in the photo below. These lanes were added due to the people wanting to grow their cities. As years go by, it can be seen that humans continue to alter the natural system of the world in order to better their lives.

As seen in the photo below, the bike lanes were added for people to use as a recreational activity. In addition, although not seen in the photo, ports were added for boat users who want to ride their boats with or against the current.

This photo features my grandparents, my sister and myself in the middle of a large disarray of apartments. With city life becoming a more desirable place to live, the city of Inchon continues to build more sky-high buildings in order to house the incoming people. This would soon cause as an environmental issue as more people means that their will be an increase of human production. This means that their would be less space and more pollution in the city.

In the city of Gongchu, there is a history of agriculture that my father's family is deeply rooted in. As a result, one of my uncle serves as one of the government workers who informs the public of the history of agriculture. By teaching the younger generation their roots, the people of Gongchu is able to learn from their ancestors in order to create a farming experience that is both long lasting and efficient. The history behind this city's agriculture teaches new farmers the importance of maintaining the environment by treating it well. As a result the museum of agriculture teaches the citizens of Gongchu to respect nature by teaching them the importance of their culture and their history.

The three photos below were taken in the San Diego Wild Animal Zoo. One of the reason the zoo was created was because the zoo hopes to rehabilitate wild animals that have no chance of surviving in their original habitat. Many of the reasons contributing to wild life rehabilitation centers are due to human activities. As humans are taking ruining the natural flow of environment, is it our social responsibility to provide protection for dependent animals.

* The photo on the left includes my sister's red hat. This can be proven by checking the photo on the top left.
