I learned that when we think about work related injuries we often think of the ones where someone was physically injured on the job. However, I believe we should start looking at what work place bullying can do and if that person needs help outside of work. This could also be considered work related injuries. We saw this with our case study and the conditions that can arise from being bullied.

When it comes to workplace accidents I seen many of times these accidents occur in one of three main reasons for happening. The first cause is workers who are in a rush to get the job done because they are under pressure of tight deadlines placed on them by their bosses. Another reason I've seen is complacency in workers who've done a task so many times that they no longer take the time to properly prepare themselves, use the correct equipment or what have you because they don't think it's needed. The third cause that I've seen is the fatigue factor. Many accidents when workers are working a couple hours past there normal work shifts. Workers will begin to tire, lose focus, and get themselves into trouble.

According to the National Safety Council, I've learned that a work related accident happens every 7 seconds in the US. I've also learned that the Top 3 most common injuries that occur are #1 overexertion, #2 contacts with objects or equipment, and #3 slips/trips/falls. I also learned that many companies separate the types of safety training there workers obtain. Beginners get basic safety training whereas more advanced safety training is reserved for supervisors.

Fatigue seems to be a very casually-viewed problem (at least in my field) and not enough is being done to stop it, which can lead to a lot of accidents.
