Casanova also lies and says that his name is Bernardo Guardi. At the trial, Francesca was being impressed by what Casanova did to her and she confessed that she is Bernardo Guardi. They both are sentenced to death.

In the trial, they are saved by the Pope who gave amnesty to all prisoners to be executed on that day. Then, it is known that the Pope who announced it was happened to be Casanova’s stepfather. All of them then escaped by a boat and Giovanni, the brother of Francesca stayed in Venice and became the next Casanova.
