Round 1
2. All of these religions emphases on knowledge through gods and practice such as Confucianism which say the father teaches the son and so on.
3. India's caste system worked with four castes. The first was the Sudras who were all labors. Next were Vaisyans who were merchants and traders. After this were the Kshatriya's who were warriors and rulers. The one at the top was the Brahmans who priests and scholars. There were also untouchable who were considered outside the caste.
4. All the ancient civilizations helped us to get were we are now like China who invented paper, gunpowder, silk, and rice. Egypt had their knowledge in space and India helped us with medicine.
5. China inventions are still around today like paper and gunpowder. Egypt still has many monuments today like the pyramids. India invented lots of medicines still used today.
6.Paper and gunpowder invented by China helped us start the industrial Revolution.
7. I don't think that the world will ever free from suffering because their is no such thing as a perfect world. even though advancements in technology you can't invent a world without suffering.
ROUND TWO
2. The ancient Egyptians were polytheistic and believed in multiple gods. The gods control every aspect of life like re the sun god. They encouraged Egyptians to lead good lives and take burials seriously
3. China is them most important civilization that they gave to us like paper and fireworks.
4. The Nile river created fertile soil for crops and it gave them water
5. China because they invented paper which we use every day and gunpowder and printing.
6. One of the greatest places to visit in Chicago is the Willis Tower. It stretches over 1451 feet puts it at the 9th tallest building in the world with it's impressive architecture is sure is one of the best places to visit.
7. No because over a million people would have to agree to change and many people would disagree and fight for what they think. Then it would start wars and conflict.
8. The basic teachings of Confucius was that you should respect your elders and respect authority. Pg.170 The basic teachings of Hinduism was that actions and conduct create Karma and they also believed in reincarnation. Pg. 150 The basic teachings of Buddhism was about the four noble truths and like Hindus they believed in reincarnation. Pg. 154

3. India's caste system started with the Priest who were on top, then the warriors and nobles were after, following Freeman, farmers, and traders and last SLAVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!STOPPPPP

4. The most significant achievement in my opinion for China is toilet paper since people go to the bathroom about 2-3 times a day and without toilet paper we could not go to the bathroom. For India I think the most significant achievement was the Vedas because it gives us information from back then. Pg. 148 In my opinion Egypts most significant achievement was the making of Papyrus because it was the first form of writing and so we might have not been able to write now. Pg. 115

5. We still use toilet paper and paper from China and Egypt. Also, we still eat curry from India. It's good. NOT SPONSERED

6. We could not live without paper because we humans use it every day and we use it to print stuff and do assignments and keep data, without paper we would not be able to keep track of stuff. Also, toilet paper is something we could not live without because we need to go to the bathroom and not being able to go to the bathroom can cause diseases.

7. I don't think this world will ever be free from Buddhist hope because people believe in things and they probably won't change their beliefs. These people have opinions and you can't really change their opinion.

Round Two

1. warlord (n) a military commander, especially an aggressive regional commander with individual autonomy (google)

pharaoh (n) an ancient Egyptian ruler (glossary R4)

missionary (n) a person who goes to another country to do religious work; a person who tries to spread Christianity to other (glossary R4)

nirvana (n) in Buddhism, a state of bliss or the end of suffering caused by the cycle of rebirth (glossary R4)

citadel (n) a fortress, typically on high ground, protecting or dominating a city (google)

monsoon (n) a strong seasonal wind in South and Southeast Asia (glossary R4)

2. The ancient Egyptians believed in multiple gods. Out of these thousands of gods, "Re." According to "Daily Life and Religion" on page 100 in Chapter Four, "Re, the sun god, created the world." The Egyptians believed they should be good and take burial seriously, to have a good afterlife. As stated by Ms. Taylor earlier in the year, "the Egyptians were not scared of their gods, but the Mesopotamians were afraid of their gods. The Mesopotamians were afraid the gods would be upset and give them bad weather and misfortune, while the Egyptians believed the gods took care of them."

3. My partner and I believe China had the greatest impact on our world today. Our reasons are that the Chinese invented many useful things and were very advanced people. A few of the most important out of the many Chinese inventions include paper, gunpowder, tea, and silk. These inventions are very important. Imagine our world without these things, that would be inconvenient. Without paper, we would have been very behind, education wise, and without gunpowder, many of our weapons would not have been developed. Those would have been negative impacts, so we are the lucky the advanced culture of the Chinese invented these useful inventions.

4. The Nile was an essential part of Egyptian life. It provided many things such as fertile soil (silt), water, and food. It provided food by giving animals water, the animals would later be killed, and the water affected farming, which was important at the time. The Nile made farming very productive and according to page 92, "successful farming generated surpluses, which led to population growth, trade, and specialized jobs. As you can see, the Nile River was very important part of the Egyptian culture.

5. Our modern world would not be the same without the Chinese civilization. As I stated above, the Chinese provided our world with convenient inventions. Our world would be different and more behind is many things such as education, weapons, and products.

Imagine the world with no paper, no tea, no kites, no gunpowder, no silk, and many less things.

6. I think the Willis Tower, located in Chicago, is amazing, like the Great Wall of China and the Great Pyramid of Egypt. This building is dazzling standing at 1,450 feet tall with 110 stories. The "Willis Tower" is the second tallest building in the United States of America and the sixteenth tallest building in the world. The skyscraper has an eye-catching design and is a big tourist attraction.

7. I think anyone can change for the better, especially in our society, we have so many opportunities in our world. Nowadays, everyone in our society has the opportunity to be who they want to be. No matter who you are, you can change for the better. Just look at Ashoka, a very fearsome king, he was strong, brave, and often described as "heartless". Ashoka even went in war with his half-brothers! He was always experiencing conflict, yet he spread Buddhism.

8. I'm going to compare ancient China with the United States of America. I'll start with the weaknesses we share, both are very polarized in their economic systems. They have different beliefs and some people believe one "side" to be "good" and one "side" to be "bad". They also spend too much money on military when they could be using the money for other things. In this time, China and the U.S have little regard for the environment, they are always thinking about "biggering". Both also use their military power to intimidate neighboring countries. Now, I will state the strengths, they are both large economies, large countries, are rich with natural resources, are almost self-sufficient when it comes to resources, they are super-power countries (they are strong), they have a large population (which useful for the economies), and both have strong militaries.

Closing Question

`The Chinese civilization is the best because they created paper and that is an important aspect to life because without paper we could not pay bills or do projects or read books or print paper. Without paper our life now would be very confusing.

Confucianism focuses on responsibilities and the relationships between father and son, older and younger brother, husband and wife,, friends and friend, and ruler and subject. Buddhism is about how the four noble truths. Hinduism reincarnation and dharma
3. The Indian caste system is based on who you were in your past life or your karma. The order is from Bramins, to priests, to Kshatriya, to Saundra, to the lowest caste the untouchables.
4. India introduced two religions Buddhism, and Hinduism. They also advanced a lot in science, and math. Egypt also advanced in science, medicine and math also creating a way to tell time and dates. China invented many things like paper, gunpowder and the compass which are very important things that we still use today.
5. We still use many things that China invented like gunpowder, paper and we use a more advanced version of their compass. Egyptians created the calendar that we still use today. India made many advancements in medicine which was the basis for medicine today.
6. It would be a lot harder to live without paper since we have used paper for currency and to communicate. We also not be able to live without medicine that these civilizations advanced without it a lot more people would be dying from diseasies like smallpox.
7. No because there will always be people who will cause shootings and terrorists attacks. We have still not found a way to end these attacks I believe there will always be problems and there won't be a perfect world with no violence.
     Round 2
warlord: a person who has both military and civil skills.
Pharaoh: an Egyptian ruler
missionary: a person who goes to another country to do religious works.
nirvana: in Buddhism,a state of bliss or the end of suffering cause by the cycle
citadel: a fortress, typically on high ground
monsoon: a strong seasonal wind in south and southeast India.

2. Egyptians were polytheistic and so they worshiped thousands of gods. They believed Re, the sun god, created the world. The Egyptians also believed that if you were a good person, you were admitted into the afterlife and took burials very seriously. Another thing was that they believed that the spirits needed food and would mummify the bodies of the powerful people.
3. In my opinion, China made the greatest impact, because they invented paper, gunpowder, and the magnetic compass. Paper would be used for more efficient money usage. Gunpowder is used for guns, and other weapons. And compass is useful because it would show you which direction you are going in.
4. The Nile River was important because it allowed people to grow in many ways. It provided them with silt, transportation, water, food, and much more.
5. China, because we use paper for more efficient money, writing, compasses, & gunpowder. Paper was the most essential thing China invented because we probably wouldn't be this advanced now if they didn't invent it.
6. I think that the Willis Tower in Chicago is just as amazing as The Great Wall and The Great Pyramid. It was the tallest buildings in the world for about 25 years. It stands 1,450 feet tall, and it took about 3 years and 2,000+ workers to complete. Also, it costs about $150 million. It is also, 4.5 square miles.
7. Yes, because as shown by Asoka, a person from a person causing lots of violence, if people see the wrong in their ways, and the damage of what they do. They can change drastically to be a better person.
8.

People's caste's dictated the kind of work they did, whom to marry, and even what to eat.

Round 2:
2. The Egyptians believed in multiple gods. They believed that the gods controlled everything in their lives. The beliefs also encouraged Egyptians to lead good lives and take burials seriously. They made important people wrapped in mummies.
3. I believe that China had the greatest impact on our world today. They had made many important inventions like paper. China also had great philosophical thinkers and writers. Their thoughts and ideas influenced our world today.
4. The Nile River is the longest river in the world. It carried ships downstream and upstream easily. The water had silt in it which helped agriculture in Ancient Egypt. The river was also predictable when it came to flooding.
5. China had great philosophic thinkers and had many inventions, one of which to note was paper from the Han Dynasty.
6. I think that the NBC tower is just as great as the Great Wall or the Great Pyramid. It's architecture was greatly influenced by the Art Deco design. The tower also had a lot of the broadcasts made by NBC.
7. Yes. Asoka seemed pretty evil but he soon learned to be better. I think that this can also be the same for our world today. If someone caused bad things, they could learn to be better.
8. China had philosophies that people could believe in. I believe that this is similar to religions in America. In America, we can all believe in whatever religion we want.
9. (Closing Question) I thought that China was the best civilization. They made many inventions that we still use today. China was also very organized with their philosophies and dynasties. Great thinkers and writers from China shaped the future of China for 2,000 years and even influenced our world today.

  round 2
1. Warlord; a military commander, especially an aggressive regional commander with individual autonomy. Pharaoh; a ruler in ancient Egypt. Missionary; relating to or characteristic of a missionary or a religious mission. Nirvana; (in Buddhism) a transcendent state in which there is neither suffering, desire, nor sense of self, and the subject is released from the effects of karma and the cycle of death and rebirth. It represents the final goal of Buddhism. Citadel; a fortress, typically on high ground, protecting or dominating a city. Monsoon; a seasonal prevailing wind in the region of South and Southeast Asia, blowing from the southwest between May and September and bringing rain (the wet monsoon ), or from the northeast between October and April (the dry monsoon).
2. The Egyptians believed in many gods that each controlled something different. They built a temple for each god.
3. I believe the that the Mesopotamians had the greatest impact on our world today because they invented and discovered a lot of things such as the wheel, the sail boat, the plow, time, astronomy and astrology, maps, mathematics, the first form of writing, irrigation, and agriculture.
4. The Nile river is so important because due to the almost non-existent rain there would be no water for their food if it wasn't for the river.
5. Our world wouldn't be the same if any one of the civilizations didn't exist, but since Mesopotamia invented a lot of things (including wheels which we use every day) that is the one civilization that our modern world would not be the same without.
6. I think the Willis Tower is amazing because it is the 2nd tallest in the USA and 20th tallest in the world.
7. I don’t think people can change for better ways because if you have met a lot of people (including not so friendly ones) you can tell that they always stay the same.
8. I'm comparing the romans to the USA. The Strengths we share are that we both have very good military and we are both very good at construction. The weaknesses that we share is that both of our governments are a tad bit messed up.
