It helps drive instruction of where to go with the student as well.</div>]]></description>

The students are measured against a reference and given a score. This test is the same for any student who takes it. The score is able to be achieved immediately (quick turnaround) and the test is the primary source of data. This is also use for summative purposes to see what the students know.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Example: Dolch Sight Word Assessment<br><br>The Dolch Sight Word assessment is an assessment for learning because it generates data for a formative purpose and lets the teacher know where the students are with sight words. This helps the teacher plan their instruction and is geared toward instruction. This can also occur on an ongoing basis, especially as students are learning to read, so teachers and the students can see their progress in real time. Students and teachers will know immediately how they did because the feedback is done immediately.</div>]]></description>

These are used for the sole purpose of getting into a college/program. This test is also standardized and every student takes the same test and is measured in the same way. This is also associated as a culmination of knowledge and what the students have accrued over time, essentially testing if they'll be able to succeed in college before acceptance. This holds students accountable in order for them to get into college.</div>]]></description>

SAT is measured against a percentile rank so you are compared to those that have taken the test. Students typically take the SAT at the same age and at the same time of their lives. It holds students accountable for their knowledge and is standardized. This test is typically given to juniors and seniors in high school with the purpose of helping them get into college. It encourages colleges to look at these tests as a measurement to let students in as well.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Example: PE Physical Exam<br><br>An exam in PE (not paper and pencil) is a good example of a performance exam. A student may be graded with a rubric based on how well they know rules of a game based on how they're playing it. A performance assessment is based on the student demonstrating their metacognitive awareness. This is individualized per student as each student will perform differently. It uses the student work as the means to assess. The students need to want to do well in order to perform well. A teacher can also help guide a student by giving a rubric so the student knows what to show.</div>]]></description>

The test is the primary source for data. While the DIBELS may also fall under assessment for learning because the teacher can use the results to help guide their instruction for the student, ultimately the test is given during the same time periods throughout the year and is used as a summative measurement, making it fall more under the category of assessment of learning.</div>]]></description>

This is an example of an assessment of learning because it is given at the same time each year, many times is the same exam across classes of the same subject area/grade level, and uses the test solely as the primary data source. A mid-term grade receives its own grade on a report card. This holds students accountable for the information they learned for 2 quarters of school. </div>]]></description>
