"When teachers mispronounce students' names... the students are often left feeling ridiculed and embarrassed" (p. 55).
This spoke volumes. This fragment alone was enough to raise attention to reread the section. It falls back to inclusion; I start with knowing their name 1st of all to address who I am including.  

"Make students' and histories a central and integral part of the curriculum" (p. 53). 
This is one of the greatest things I didn't know I would be able to do. I had no idea how lesson planning worked or if there were preset guidelines to meet the agendas. The amount of freedom there is to include all of my students on varied aspects is a definite motivator.
