The author did indeed keep the tone of the article "Say What", friendly and light hearted. It was entertaining and kept the reader engaged. The article provides valuable information while also including play on words. According to the newspaper article, the theme was kept funny thanks to the cartoon of the speaking animals in the top left corner. In other words, even though the article is funny, it also provides keen information about animals and how they communicate. The article illustrates that, " dolphins use different sounds in different situations...these sounds are called phonations." This statement proves that not all animals have the same language which makes them all unique and interesting. All in all, in this selection the author achieved the goal.

The author of the article "Say What" achieved his goal of making the article friendly and light hearted. This is because the article uses informal words and phrases such as, "Say What" and "these water loving mammals". These statements show the author doesn't intend for the article to be tough to understand. Along with these cheerful phrases and words the author added plentiful amounts of pictures such as the animals speaking. This shows a baby lion saying "ROAR" in a speech bubble while a porcupine doesn't know what the lion is saying so he says "I don't speak lion". This conveys the understanding of what the article will be about while showing a friendly mood using personification.

The author achieved the goal of conveying a friendly tone in the magazine "Say what?". This is shown in the quick but informational paragraphs of the magazine entry by having the author state friendly, encouraging words such,"Water-loving,understanding, and including animal sounds." This shows a peaceful tone because the author could have use words with negative connotations. Some of these words could have been harder to understand for the target demographic of children and also adults in some cases. An example of these convoluted words are water-oriented, discerning, and creatures reverberation. Another example of a light-hearted tone is shown in the comic next to the title. The comic shows a lion attempting to communicate with a porcupine looking creature. This creates a childish tone that would be made to entertain a child while having a relationship pertaining to the topic of the magazine entry. Another reason why this comic shows a peaceful attitude is that any other author would just include normal captions instead of entertaining pictures.

Also in the passage it states that bees have a chimical launguage with at least 36 pheromones. This explains that they are intelligent creatures that have created their own launguage. This article is light hearted because in the passage it has animals talking to each other like they are in a cartoon. Therefor this article is light hearted because it is not serious but facts at the same time it gives superior facts about animals and their facts. In conclusion this article is light hearted and friendly tone.

In the article the author states a few key words that keep this goal true, such as, "water loving", and "amazing". These words are typically found in articles that have very light-hearted, friendly tones. They are almost never found in a serious tone, which is the complete opposite of the author's goal. Another one of the ways we know the author reached the goal is the way the article is formatted. The author uses bold fonts that are amusing to the reader. The author also made a joke between two animals in an image. A final way the author accomplished the goal was at the start of the article when he stated, "Dogs bark, cows moo, horses neigh." Then after that the author encouraged the reader to find out more. In a serious informal article they would just state the information and be done. With all the evidence provided, the author achieved the goal of conveying a friendly, light-hearted tone.

For example, according to the article "Say What?" the author begins by saying, "Dogs bark, cows moo, and horses neigh." Furthermore, the article also states, "These water-loving mammals..." to give a warm feeling towards the dolphins. When people think of dolphins, they most likely think of cute animals that play and splash around in the ocean. The author uses this description of the dolphins to draw the reader in, thus, giving that friendly lighthearted tone. However, towards the middle and end of the article, the author provides more of a scientific, serious tone. When the author states, "They also use a series of whistles and clicks to exchange information. These sounds are called phonations." and "Some animals even make chemicals called pheromones to talk with smells." it conveys more of that serious tone.

The words water-loving has a light- heated tone in the article because the word loving is a civil adjective. Instead of the words such as cherish, or enchanted the author used loving so a younger audience can understand,. and its not so serious. As noticed in the pictures in the article "Say What " a lion and porcupine are talking. This personification is a way of the writer to bring an understanding of the passage while also being non heavy. While the picture is light hearted ,there is a serious meaning and tone to the picture that must take a deep train of thought. The passage Dolphins uses the word phonations and in Bees it uses pheromones. These two words are differing a light hearted tone. The author did achieve a light hearted tone but he had segments of seriousness throughout the passages so it wasn't an uninformative article. In addition the writer has parts of light-hearted magazine article but while also having a serious tone.

This text evidence shows that the author wanted the animals to appear sweet and kind. Furthermore the author uses an illustration of two baby mammals talking. The reason for the picture of the baby mammal was to make them look cute. Another way the author reveals a friendly tone for the article is what the animals are saying. First the baby lion says "Roar!" and the baby badger replies with "sorry. I don't speak lion." This piece of evidence shows that the author intended for the article to be light-hearted and friendly because it appears funny to the reader. Overall the author achieves his goal of making the article friendly and light-hearted and effectively displays examples throughout the whole article.

Some examples of these convoluted words are water-oriented, discerning, and creatures reverberation. Another example of a light hearted tone is shown in the comic next to the title. The comic shows a lion attempting to communicate with a porcupine looking creature. This creates a childish tone that would be made to entertain a child while having a relationship pertaining to the topic of the magazine entry. Another reason why this comic shows a peaceful attitude is that any other writer would just include normal captions instead of entertaining and humorous pictures. Therefore , the author strived to show a friendly, peaceful tone and succeeded in this writing . with this evidence it is clear how easy it is to have a light-hearted tone and reap the benefits of it.
