During the 2nd HB2219 second session, MANY of the other districts were brainstorming how to build capacity in their districts. I think we should grow our CLASS to different AT commonalities (i.e., switch users, high incidence, etc). I know with collective bargaining, it is nearly impossible to do it in person.

More of than than not, sadly, we have many students each ESY who are sent devices but yet seldom use them during the school year. That should be documented and perhaps a bank of general low tech options are made available to each ESY site

Obviously, updating your notes and check-outs.
Still having a form to fill out, so whoever is opening up will know specific examples about how the student uses the device (NOT just writing "for requesting" or "for cause and effect"). Something having more detail, like "The student independently presses go to say that he needs to go to the bathroom, and he wants to go play with his favorite toy. The teachers have been modeling without expectation for the words: want, play, stop."
A specific note could help the person who needs to complete the Tier 3 training during ESY and reduce individual emails to clarify usage to the school-year case manager.

How would we be able to indicate on the AAC form which students would require tier 3 support due to nature of device (e.g., eye gaze) or set up to prioritize training

general low tech options should be made available for all classrooms in ESY (for all kids with communication needs) Maybe we provide a folder of downloads and an AAC poster for classrooms?
