Whether this is not taking off a coat to not putting away a phone. While these are considered 'small fry' in terms of behaviour, it means that the student is flouting and refusing to adhere to the 'normality' of the classroom, and thus flouting the culture we are seeking to adopt. This also means that noone challenges the decision of the teacher, as this is not only undermining the class teacher, but the culture we are attempting to create.

Students should do what they are asked, first time, every time.

Students, Teachers, and Parents should be polite to one another.

Students and Teachers should present themselves appropriately.

It’s important that these values are simple but umbrella as much as possible. They also need to be unpacked regularly (e.g. what is polite behaviour?) and sold to students regularly. E.G. Why should students do what they are asked first time every time? Because it keeps the learning fast, focused and fun. Nobody likes slow, argumentative lessons.

All students / parents should sign up. Staff could too, if it helps sell the values to students and parents.
