There are so many ways you can incorporate music into the classroom. The three ways I incorporate music in my classroom is through transitions, GoNoodle, and music in the background while working. Some of the transitions I use are the Jackson 5 ABC song to transition our switch from one curriculum block to another. I also play music when students come to the classroom in the morning to positively start the day. The song I use a lot is Can't Stop The Feeling from Trolls. GoNoodles are used to teach various concepts and used as brain/movement breaks. This helps with rhythm and beats too. Also, there are studies that show how certain types of soft/classical music can help the brain study and concentrate and I try to find soothing music to play in the background of my classroom for my students and myself.

Music is so important to the classroom! There are so many ways to use music but here are some ways I do in my classroom:
1. During work time-- I am a huge Disney fan and I love playing the instrumental Disney playlist during work time for my kiddos.
2. During transitions-- i have used the doctor who theme, avengers, and harry potter as my transitional songs in the past.
3. Brain Breaks-- I am new to these and I used my very first go noodle! It's a Frozen one!!

1) I like to play music while students are doing DEAR time (Drop everything and read). I play classical music and the students say it helps them focus.
2) I play instrumental music of popular songs during work time. Students can recognize the tune, but don't sing along because there are no words. I also use it as volume control. If students are working in small groups quietly, I tell them that if they can't hear the music playing, their voices are too loud.
3) I like to use timers with music when we play group games. It represents the think time the group has to come up with an answer. I like to use the jeopardy song (or similar songs) that they recognize so they can tell how long they have left.

1. I like to incorporate music during independent writing time. I've found that playing soft and relaxing music during this time helps keep students focused and not talking to their neighbors.
2. Brain breaks are a great way to incorporate music in the classroom, I love all of the songs that GoNoodle has and the students always think they are fun.
3. In Kindergarten I like singing songs during transitions. Each week we learn a new song in class, and it's worked really well in the past to tell students we are going to sing a song 2 times before they should be sitting down at the carpet.

1. I would incorporate music into the classroom for brain breaks. I love GoNoodle and have seen it used several times and its a great opportunity for students to get the wiggles out
2. Transitions are another way to incorporate music, it gives students a time limit as well. Once they get familiar with the songs they know how much time they have
3. I really like the idea of using music to learn or introduce new topics in a fun and engaging way

First, I would want to include some soft, calm, instrumental music into the silent warm up activities I do at the beginning of class. I also think I could use music to help teach, review, or have students present material. I also think as a science/math teacher, I think I could create experiments relating to wavelength/frequency or metering to help with fraction etc.

I'm interested in teaching K-2nd so I think music could be incorporated in so many ways.
1. during art (my high school art teachers always did that it was really relaxing and helped us work)
2. I think ending the day on a positive note with a fun song would be cool.
3. I don't know if schoolhouse rock is too outdated but when I was in Elementary/Middle school we loved watching/singing along to those about ELA topics/math, etc.

1. Utilizing songs that my students like (they love Imagine Dragons...), it will keep them engaged during transitions
2. A consistent "end of day" video (I chose the "Final Countdown") which will provide consistency in the packing up process. Typically the end of the day is the most hectic in my class, and sometimes I give the students too much time to pack and other times not enough. Having a consistent song will keep the time constant, plus provide those sweet sweet rocking jams.
3. I will have students reflect on their feelings and creativity when listening to music while we work, versus having it be quiet. I want to see how they reflect on the things music makes them feel or help with.
