One challenge I faced this term was the 3rd class drills. I struggled to remember how to execute the drills, as there were many to remember. But I practiced every time I had the time, with my squadmates or myself. In the end, I managed to be the first few to finish my test.

One event that made me felt good was the NPCC commemoration day where all NPCC cadets had to stand in the front, it was so exhilarating to execute my drills in front of the school and I felt proud to be in NPCC.

One event I enjoyed was the VIA Sentosa Outreach that I signed up for in Sec 1. It was so nice to spend time with the cadets that signed up for the outreach too and I learned a lot of new things there.

One cadet I want to acknowledge is Shanjana. She really helped me a lot during campcraft, teaching me how to tie the knots and lashing when I didn't know how. She is really helpful, and is always willing to help others when they need it. Thank you Shanjana!!

One thing I wish to improve on is not making new friends easily, because I feel that I have been sticking to the same few people in CCA and I think that in order to feel more united, I should put in the effort to get to know more people. I have been trying to talk to new people during CCA and I guess its still a work in progress.

1.I really wanted to have a chance at being on of our CCA leaders but the problem is that i have social anxiety. I have been trying to overcome this by cracking jokes with my squad mates or simply making conversation with them. Recently I have been talking to more people and i think i have overcome this fear a bit.

2.One activity in term 1 that really empowered me was when we went to the road safety park and I was able to teach children about the right safety rules and to follow the correct routes on the map. This was definitely a confidence booster for me to be able to teach them the road safety rules.

3.I enjoyed practicing our drills. Although I had to sit out a lot, It was still fun to be able to practice them with my friends so that we could help eachother learn from our mistakes and to do well in the actual test.

4.I want to acknowledge Samhika. She displays responsibility and also cares about her CCA mates and helps them whenever they need it.Keep it up Samhika!!!

5.I need to work on my socialization skills as i know that this will greatly benefit my future in this CCA.I will keep working towards this.

I had forgotten to bring my uniform once and had to go back home to get it. This resulted in me being late to school that day.

One challenge i faced this term was preparing my uniform every week. i had to put on all the badges, iron and do the same things every week. This process seemed quite tedious at first but i got used to it by the second month.

One activity that made me feel empowered is the Road Marshall duty when we had the chance to remind students about traffic rules. This was a fun activity that made me feel more confident.

One training session that stood out to me was the last day our squadmates were doing 3rd class drills. While the last few were doing their test, the ones who already completed were practicing knots for campcraft. During this, I had the chance to bond with my ma'ams and learn more about them.

One squadmate i would like to affirm is Shasmeen. She is always by my side to give moral support during tough training sessions. Thanks Shas...

One thing I can definitely work on is my GROWTH mindset. Sometimes When I feel discouraged executing a few drills wrongly, I let it get the best of me and for the rest of the CCA session, my drills are all wrong. I will work on this and next time when I make a mistake, I will not give up so fast.

This term, one challenge that I faced was maintaining my uniform every week. Making sure all the badges were in place, ironing it properly, and preparing it for each session requires effort and consistency. When we started wearing the uniform every week , it felt tiring and repetitive, but after some time, I became more disciplined and found ways to manage the task more easily.

One activity that made me feel confident was doing the drills during a training session. Standing in front of the squad and helping them through each step was quite stressful , but it helped me to push out of my comfort zone. It helped me develop better communication skills. By the end of it, I felt proud that I was able to lead confidently and support my squadmates.

A memorable training session was that last year when we were sec 1s , I remember getting to know my ma'ams more and sitting around in the circle communicating with each other and getting to know one another as well. It was a very memorable training session to me as it helped me build my communication skills better.

I would like to affirm my squadmate, Heerthiika , for always being a source of support. Her encouragements keeps me going she always motivates me not to give up during the CCA session and asking her if my uniform is neat and proper gives me a big relief and also heerthiika has been very supportive since sec 1 and her motivation keeps me going.

One thing I am working to improve is my mindset, especially whenever I make mistakes. I sometimes tend to get discouraged easily, and it sometimes affects the rest of my performance whenever i do drills . Moving forward, I want to approach challenges with a more positive attitude and remind myself that every mistake is an opportunity to learn and grow. Keep Moving Forward.

During today’s visit to Sengkang NPC, I gained a better understanding of how important it is to stay alert and make responsible choices. I learned that many cases of shop theft often happen because of peer influence, the desire to own things we can’t afford, and poor decision-making. This experience reminded me that our actions have consequences, and it’s important to think before we act. We should also stay aware of our surroundings so we don’t become easy targets for crime.

Most crimes regarding shop theft is usually because one is being peer pressure, materialistic belief and many others. Therefore, we should consider the consequences of our actions and also not make our self's easy victims to such cases.

1. One growth mindset I had today was believing that I could improve my paddling if I kept trying. At first, I found it hard to stay in sync with my team and use the right technique. Instead of getting frustrated, I reminded myself that learning something new takes time. I listened to the coach’s advice and focused on getting better with each round. By the end of practice, I felt more confident and could tell I was improving.

2. One challenging moment I had was when I started to feel really tired during one of the longer stretches. My arms were sore and I wanted to stop, but I kept going by taking deep breaths and focusing on my timing. I also reminded myself that my team needed me. Pushing through the tiredness helped me feel proud of myself afterward.

Through the two sessions of .22 revolver practice shoot:

1. I learnt how to practice patience and and confidence in myself during the practice shoot. At first, I was feeling uncertain in myself when handling the revolver, thinking that I would not be able to use it properly or scared myself during the practice shoot, since I heard that it would be really loud when we were shooting. Luckily, it was not as bad as I thought it would be, thus overcoming my doubts on handling a revolver.

2. One challenging moment that I experienced was learning how to hold and use the revolver. I overcame it by asking the instructors and squad mates on how to hold it correctly so that I would not accidentally hurt myself or anyone when shooting.

one thing that went well was working and communicating with my group mates. In the beginning, my group mates only interacted with each other by level as the sec 1s only talked to each other while the sec 2s only talked to each other. However as we did more team bonding games together we started to communicate more, working together and opening up to one another .

one challenging part of camp was planning for the camp performance and camp cheer. My group found it hard to come up with words for the cheer as the group name we had was long, making it hard to find rhymes and different words. When we chose our song for the campfire, we struggled to find a dance that matched the song as it was very energetic and fast. However, we overcame this challenge by coming together and discussing with one another, eventually choreographing a dance that suited the song lyrics.

A group of people i would like to acknowledge would be the secondary 1s in my group. When we were all first grouped together, the sec 1s seemed uncomfortable, rarely particating in group discussions or talking to anyone, However, through the icebreaker games, they stepped out of their comfort zone and started to talk and participate more actively. For example, on the first day when we played the icebreaker games, they were very shy and rarely spoke. However after a while in a separate game, they opened up more and took part in group discussions. Thus, i think that deserve the acknowledgment as it is not easy to step out of their comfort zone.

Through this we learnt more about other schools and improved out own resilience and adaptability. One challenge I faced was it was hard for me to not give in to the heat and how far we had to walk but with my friends with me, we made each other laugh and that helped us to push through and complete the hikes. A group of people that helped me were my close friends. They cheered me up when I was gonna give up and distracted me from the negatives. Instead,in the end we had fun and learned a lot as well.

One thing that was memorable during ATC was the fact that half of the students got infected with bites. Some were quarantined, some went to first-aid. I remember after bringing infected students, the rest had to shower. Also, I bonded and made new friends throughout the experience.

One thing that was challenging however was the Campcraft segment on day 2. I recalled that only me and Cheyanne were the only ones in the group that knew some knots and lashings. So, we taught the others, and managed to build a tent. It was quite difficult, but we stick through.

I noticed how they motivated each other and made sure no one was left behind.

I learnt about the sandwich method which is used when giving out feedback. It is used by giving positive feedback, followed by constructive feedback and then positive feedback again, such as a word of encouragement to the juniors. This is important as it can help us encourage our juniors to not give up so easily and give them motivation when doing drills or campcraft, allowing them to learn from their mistakes at the same time.

I have also learnt about MOI (methods of instructions). First, we start off with an introduction, by giving our juniors a brief introduction of who we are and what we are going to learn during the session. Formation is also very important when giving out instructions to our juniors, ensuring that they are comfortable, safe, and have enough ventilation for them to focus on the instructions. Next, we give them an explanation on why we are having that session to teach them campcraft, for example, explaining the use of different knots and how we can apply them in our daily lives. After that, we demonstrate what we explained to our juniors, giving them a much more clear understanding of what we are learning. Lastly, we should give them some time to practice by themselves so that they know how to execute their drills/tying of knots, so that we know how to help them if they have any problems. It is important to have the juniors' full attention when we are giving out instructions so that they are clear on what to do for the day.

Lastly, I have learnt about the importance of communication, which falls between verbal and non-verbal communication. Verbal communication can refer to our tone, such as our confidence when speaking. Non-verbal communication can refer to our body language, such as gestures and eye contact. This is important when giving our juniors an impression of ourselves when we talk to them for the first time.

3 things I learnt...

I learnt the 5 steps of MOI (Method of Instruction), which are Introduction, Formation, Explanation, Demonstration and Practice. These steps help me conduct lessons in a clear and organised manner so that cadets can understand and learn more effectively.

For the Introduction, I learnt that it is important for me to first introduce myself, explain what the session will be about, and clearly state the objectives of the lesson. This helps cadets know what to expect and prepares them mentally for the activity.

For Formation, I learnt that I must carefully choose a suitable location for training. I need to consider safety, weather conditions, ventilation and visibility. Cadets should not be facing the sun as it affects their focus, and I should always have a backup location prepared in case of bad weather to ensure the lesson can continue smoothly.
