The Types of Work I Chose

When choosing my journal entries/writing passages, I went with the reflecting and reviewing. I chose the Critical Review over the Passage Study, because that works for my mind. Doing the Critical Review forced me to slow down my reading, and truly think about what I'm reading. Same with the journal entries. I chose entries that would make me think about the book and the meaning behind it.

Things I Noticed in Book

I noticed in the book, while it may have taken place a hundred years ago, it was still relevant to today. The white farmers were worried that black men and immigrants were taking jobs, and hated them for that. The government in the book mainly aided the rich and their friends, and only helped them become richer, throwing away the rest of the citizens.
Another thing I noticed in the book was pacing. The story starts out really slow, but in the last couple of chapters so much happens in one chapter its hard to keep it all straight.

While personally, this book isn't my favorite, it still was a great book. I'd recommend this book to anyone who loves political fiction, and historical fiction. If you were to read this book, I wouldn't do it for a project unless you are absolutely sure that you would enjoy reading it.
