         <description><![CDATA[<div>Composers assert their authority in a text through the use of narrative structure. Tykwer uses tripartite structure in his film "Run Lola Run". This allows Tykwer to reinforce the motif of "the game" throughout, as Lola does the run over twice before learning all of the steps needed to save Manni in the third run. Tykwer also uses flash forwards to give the viewer context of the characters being shown, as well as to allow the audience to further understand how each change in the runs can affect the future; demonstrating the butterfly effect. Finally Tykwer uses a circular narrative, shown through the motifs of spirals and clocks. This allows the audience to understand the importance of the concept of time throughout the film; which is further demonstrated through the time 12:00, when Manni must have the money by. In conclusion, composers assert authority in a text through the narrative structure. This is present in Tom Tykwer "Run Lola Run" in it's use of Flash forwards, circular narrative and tripartite structure.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Composers assert their authority in a test through the use of narrative structure. Tykwer uses the tripartite structure in his film "Run Lola Run".&nbsp; The tripartite structure of the film consists of three different possibilities all interconnecting with each other. This is used to enforce the motif of ‘the game’ by giving Lola three lives/parallels with the ability to learn from each previous life. At the end of the film, there is an aerial shot of three roads at an intersection, this is used to reinforce the idea and to show the 3 paths that the film has demonstrated throughout its duration.Through the use of the tripartite structure, Tykwer has shaped the audience’s response into acknowledging the idea of decision making leading to different futures.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Through the use of Narrative structure, composers are able to state their authority over the audience. Tykwer, composer of “Run Lola Run”, utilised a narrative structure,enabling him to  assert his authority over the audience and show how it differs from other mainstream texts. The film, “Run Lola Run” has a tripartite structure, engaging the audience with three different scenarios of Lola’s mission to rescue Manni. In each runs, the responders have witnessed the choices and small interactions made by the characters, presenting the idea of the butterfly effect. Depending on the decisions and actions made by Lola and the people around her, it can lead to unexpected outcomes. This gives the audience the knowledge and understanding of how small actions can change predestination and fate. Tykwer’s uses a lot of flashforwards throughout his film. Flashforwards aren’t very common in mainstream texts and don’t particularly serve a purpose and add to the narrative but they do reinforce common ideas and themes of the film. In all three runs, there are still frames of character’s futures, expressing how life is out of our control and how others can impact our lives. Although, the quick still frames don’t focus on Manni or Lola, it still is able to affect the audience, creating a emotional response, whether it be concern or laughter.  Run Lola Run has a circular narrative, which is represented through the motifs of spirals and circles. The repetition of the spirals and circles throughout each run indicates the concept of chance and time, allowing the audience to better understand the meaning behind the film and the importance of time, as it can affect any situation. Tykwer’s asserts his authority through the narrative structure, engaging the audience with his portrayal of predestination and showcasing its difference from other mainstream texts.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>omposers use the narrative structure to be able to state the authority over the audience. In 'Run Lola Run' Tykwer uses the tripartite structure and this sets him apart from all the mainstream texts, this is shown through 3 'runs' which is Lola in each run is trying to save Manni. There were also uses of motifs which where spirals, circles, breaking of glass which were seen in every run to represent time or the 'game' that Lola is in with time running and and she needs to remember things from each run to complete this 'game' or save Manni.tykwer also uses the butterfly effect to convey that one decision can effect many other peoples life this is show through flashforwards of people that Lola runs into on her run. Tykwer has made this text to assert his authority through motifs and the tripartite structure which sets his text apart from mainstream texts. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The use of narrative structure, the composer was able to assert authority over the audience. In the film, "Run Lola Run" Tykwer made use of narrative structure. To be able to assert his authority to his audience and shows how it is different for any other films he has made. Throughout the film Tykwer has use the tripartite structure. This consists of three different out comes and possibilities with Manni and the people around Lola. By using this structure is reinforces the motif of the film being a "game" and Lola was able to use knowledge to overcome her obstacles. This makes the audience thinking about chance and fate. Also, the use of flash forwards reinforce the predominant themes of the film. Which represent the audience of the unpredictability of life and how we can't necessary control our lives. In addition, the use of circular narrative shows that the characters such as Lola is trapped by time. Not until, Lola screams and breaks the cycle. This highlights the concepts of chance. As the audience, we are able to grasp a deeper meaning of the film by being able to compare the scenarios between the three sequences. Finally, Tom Tywker has successfully assert authority over the audience using the narrative structure which includes tripartite, flash forward and circular narrative. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Composers can display authority within their text through the use of narrative structure. This is evident in Tom Tykwers "Run Lola Run" where he uses a tripartite structure. This tripartite structure creates a non linear timeline which engages the responder to remember past events that have occurred and compare the scenarios. Each of these three parts or 'runs' have the same idea of Lola trying to reach Manni in time with the money but all have slight variations and different ending. For example run 1 ends with Lola being shot, run 2 ends with Manni being run over and run 3 ends with Lola and Manni walking off with a bag of cash. Each of these endings to the run challenge the audiences expectations of stereotypical ending. Tykwer also uses flash forwards throughout "Run Lola Run" to reinforce his predominant idea of unpredictability and how one action can change the out come for everyone "butterfly effect". This allows the audience to reflect on their own unpredictable parts of life and what they may have altered for others. Tykwer also uses a circular narrative structure which can link to the motifs of time, clocks, shattering glass and spirals. The time and clocks are used throughout to stress the importance of both time Lola has and the time we have while the spirals can show the repeated scenario in which Lola breaks free from through the motif of shattering glass. Through Tykwers use of these motifs he can engage the audience to think about what is really happening which can allow them to come up with there own judgements of whether or not they think Lola should succeed. Therefore Tom Tykwer has effectively asserted his textual authority in "Run Lola Run" through his narrative structure in order to better engage the audience.<br><br></div>]]></description>

This is evident in the movie 'Run Lola Run' by Tom Tykwer, where he has used the tripartite structure to convey a non-linear timeline, hence allowing him to convey the motif "a game". This is shown through the first 2 of Lola's runs failing, therefore, through the past experiences she perfects the final run to get the right result. Tykwer also utilizes the&nbsp;art of flash forwarding to convey to the audience his idea of unpredictability and how one action by Manni or Lola could change the lives of other drastically, hence showing the 'butterfly effect'. This creates an effect on the viewers to reflect upon their own lives and how a reasonable minor action by them would have affected another's life. Finally the use of the motifs such as clocks, shattering glass, spirals and circle are seen in throughout the film to convey Tykwer's idea of Lola's bondage within time or the game she is in with the time running out and she needs to retain things from her previous runs to finally create the perfect run and complete the game. In conclusion Tykwer has been able to assert authority over the audience using the narrative structure which include the tripartite structure, flash forwarding and the circular narrative.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Through the use of Narrative structure, composers are able to effectively assert their authority over the audience. In the film 'Run Lola Run' Tykwer's use of narrative structure impacts on the audience's engagement with the text. The narrative of 'Run Lola Run' is constructed differently from a mainstream text, where the girl is turned into the hero; giving the audience a different perspective in Lola's life. The film has a tripartite structure, giving Lola three chances in the film to start over. The 'Tripartite parallel scenes' are acknowledged as having three live as she would do playing a video game.  The three runs throughout the film reveals to the audience that  Lola's actions and the choices she makes through each run can change the outcome of each run and the lives of people she passes. This gives the audience the ability of understanding how small actions can change peoples lives and their fate. Tykwer's use of flash forwards reinforce the predominant themes of the film. They represent the unpredictability of life, and how we are not necessarily in control of our lives. This grants the audience enough information about the characters to really care for them and asserts Tykwer's authority over the audience. This then creates an emotional response from the viewers towards the characters. Tykwer's use of circular narrative structure, which is established through the motifs of the spirals and circles are symbolic of both time and the cycle which trap the characters within the game. It is effective as it emphasizes Lola's journey, who is trapped in this constant live-die-retry scenario until she finds a way to win the game and save Manni. The effectiveness of circular narrative helps the audience come up with their own judgement on each scenario of each run. Through this Tykwer has been effective in asserting the audience's authority.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Composers can assert their authority by the&nbsp; use of narrative structure. In “Run Lola Run” Tykwer used the tripartite structure. The Tripartite structure in the film consists of three possibilities that are all different and have the same fundamentals as each other. Lola has three different lives/chances in the film. This connects with the animation at the start of the runs which represents having lives in a game. Through out each run Lola learns and adapts from each run till she completes the game (saving anni). Tripartite's help the composer to assert authority.&nbsp; Lola and manning have multiple flashbacks throughout the film. At the start of the film, Manni is on the phone to Lola and starts explaining his story in a flash back. By Manni doing this we realise that Manni is more feminine and is calling for help from Lola who is more masculine as Manni needs to be saved by Lola .Tykwer is switching the stereotypical role of male and female in his film. By the use of flashbacks, Tykwer can assert the authority through his film. Tykwer uses flash forwards to convey the future lives of the people that Lola comes across in her run. By showing the flash forwards of the three different outcomes of the people reflects that they have no authority or power and proves that Lola is asserted the authority. By Lola different interactions that Lola has with the characters asserts their destiny. When Tykwer coveys the characters destiny in the flash forwards he can effectively assert the authority. Through this Tykwer has been effective through his asserting authority to the audience.</div>]]></description>
