She became a Catholic even though the Queen, as a Protestant, ruled that it was against the law to practise Catholicism.

Being a Catholic was a serious crime, but Anne had such strong faith that she risked her life by looking after Catholic priests. She became the housekeeper of a priest and encouraged other people to attend mass in the house.

On 2nd February, Fr. Francis Page was saying mass when soldiers came to the house and took Anne as a prisoner. Fr. Page managed to escape. She was eventually put to death for her faith and later became a saint.

The date of her arrest, 2nd February, is a date now remembered by the school and is celebrated as St. Anne Line’s Feast Day.

St. Anne Line School was built to provide a Catholic education in the heart of Basildon and was opened in 1964. Mr. James Fox opened the school as the first headmaster. The infant school had been planned at the same time as the original plans, and in 1968 the children, who were then infants, moved to the new building under the leadership of a second headteacher, Miss Brenda Doherty.

The Season of Creation runs from 1st September (World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation) to 4th October (the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi) each year.

It was a time to renew our relationships with God our Creator, and with all creation, as we joined together in prayer.

Sister Anne from our parish came to visit us to talk about a special Mass we would be making posters for and to teach the children about St Francis of Assisi. We gave thanks for all that God has made, and watched a short clip of Laudato Si to help us think about taking action to protect the earth, our common home.

We had a wonderful time celebrating St Anne Line Day together as a school community!

The children learned more about the life of St Anne Line, reflecting on her courage, faith and perseverance. We came together in prayer and enjoyed special activities to help us celebrate our patron saint.

It was a joyful day filled with faith, fun and togetherness, reminding us of our school motto:

“En Magna Constantia” – With Great Perseverance. ❤️

We had a wonderful time welcoming families into school for our Family Breakfast Morning!

It was lovely to see children enjoying breakfast with their families and spending time together before the school day began. There was a fantastic atmosphere, with lots of smiles, conversation and laughter.

We were delighted to welcome a member of CAFOD to school ahead of our Big Family Walk, where we learned more about how our fundraising can help communities around the world.

Families then came together at Langdon Nature Reserve to enjoy the Peter Rabbit Trail, walking together and raising money for CAFOD. It was a lovely opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, spend time with our school community and put our faith into action by helping others.

We had a very special Mother's Day in our Cygnets Nursery, welcoming mums and special grown-ups into our youngest learners' classroom.

It was lovely to see the children proudly share their nursery environment, enjoy special time together and celebrate the important people who care for them.

Our Reception children helped to change and prepare our prayer table for the start of Lent.

Together, they talked about Lent as a special time of prayer, reflection and getting ready for Easter. The children carefully changed the prayer table and thought about how we can make positive choices and show love and kindness to others during Lent.

Our Year 1 and Year 2 children shared a very special Easter Passion Play, telling the story of Jesus' journey to the cross and the joy of the Resurrection.

The children worked hard to learn their parts and brought the story to life with confidence and enthusiasm. It was a beautiful opportunity for us all to reflect on the Easter story and the message of hope, love and new life.

Our Nursery children and their families enjoyed a special visit to Most Holy Trinity Church.

It was a wonderful opportunity for our youngest children to experience our parish community, explore the church and spend time together in prayer.

We were so pleased to welcome our families and share this special experience together. ❤️

Our children enjoyed getting creative for Earth Day, making wonderful artwork and creations inspired by our amazing planet.

As well as creating, the children learned about looking after our world, including caring for nature, reducing waste, recycling and making thoughtful choices to protect our environment.

Our children celebrated Pentecost by exploring the story of the Holy Spirit coming to the disciples.

Using their artistic skills and creativity, they created beautiful paintings inspired by the flames, colours and symbols of Pentecost.

It was a wonderful opportunity to combine our faith, creativity and learning as we remembered the coming of the Holy Spirit. 🔥🎨❤️

We had a lovely time welcoming dads and special grown-ups into our Cygnets Nursery for a special Father's Day visit.

The children were so excited to share their nursery with their families and enjoy some special time together. There were lots of smiles, laughter and precious moments shared.

A wonderful way to celebrate the special people in our children's lives! 💙

Our children took part in a beautiful May Procession and Crowning of Mary to honour Mary during the month of May.

We gathered together in prayer and celebration, remembering Mary's love, faith and her special place in our Catholic faith. The children took part reverently and helped to make this a very special moment for our school community.

We were delighted to welcome Sister Anne from Paraguay who was visiting our parish community.

The children enjoyed learning about life in Paraguay and hearing about Sister Anne's work and experiences. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about another part of our world and to think about how we can show love, kindness and care for others.

We were very proud to celebrate with Shanelle who received the Brentwood Diocese Citizenship Award.

The award recognises children who demonstrate our Catholic values through their kindness, compassion, respect and care for others often through challenging times.

It was wonderful to celebrate their achievements and see our school values of Love, Learn and Pray being lived out every day. ❤️

Our children have enjoyed taking part in Dialogue and Encounter learning, exploring different cultures, communities and faiths.

Through stories, discussion and creative activities, the children developed their understanding of how people may live, believe and celebrate in different ways. They learned to listen respectfully, ask questions and appreciate what we have in common.
