TAARUF, ADAB IN LEARNING AND QURAN BOOK OF GUIDANCE

Assalamualaikum and hi! In our first usrah session, we began with taaruf (introduction) as a way to become acquainted with one another. Each member introduced themselves briefly, sharing their background and personal interests. To create a more engaging and comfortable atmosphere, we also participated in the ice-breaking activity “Two Truth and One Lie”, which encouraged interaction, fostered laughter and strengthened the bond among us.

Next, we also discussed about Adab in Seeking Knowledge. Each member shared their thoughts on why manners are important in the process of learning. Personally, I believe that if students lack proper adab, their knowledge might not bring true benefit. They may become arrogant and disrespectful towards teachers and fail to apply what they learn correctly. Having good manners ensures that knowledge is not only gained but also practiced with sincerity and humility 🤍

We also reflected on the Quran as the Book of Guidance. The Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) over 23 years as a comprehensive guide for humanity, offering lessons, wisdom and guidance for every aspects of life.

We discussed the most effective methods for learning the Quran, which include regular recitation, seeking to understand its meaning, and implementing its teachings in daily life. Emphasis was also placed on the proper adab towards the Quran, such as maintaining cleanliness, reading with reverence, and reciting with focus and sincerity.

One verse that particularly inspires me is :

“Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward.” (Qur’an 17:9). This verse reminds us that the Quran is a source of guidance and encouragement, showing the path of righteousness and motivating us to act upon its teachings in our daily lives.

That’s all from me! Thank you, bye !

#islamicreminder

PILLARS OF ISLAM

Assalamualaikum and hello! In Week 2 of our Usrah session, we focused on the Five Pillars of Islam, which are the foundation of every Muslim’s faith and practice. Each group was assigned one pillar to present. My group consisted of five members and our assigned topic was Fasting (Sawm). Together with the other groups, we explored Shahada, Salah, Zakat, Sawm, and Hajj. These pillars not only define the duties of a Muslim but also shape spiritual, social, and moral aspects of life.

The first pillar is Shahada, the declaration of faith. It is the testimony that there is no God but Allah and that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His Messenger. Shahada is the key to entering Islam and symbolizes absolute belief and commitment to Allah.

The second pillar is Salah, the five daily prayers. Salah connects Muslims directly to Allah and is regarded as the pillar of religion. It is a lifelong obligation that trains discipline, builds faith, and prevents immoral actions.

The third pillar is Zakat, which means almsgiving. Zakat purifies wealth and the soul while strengthening Islamic brotherhood. It reduces the gap between the rich and the poor, gains Allah’s pleasure, and instills a sense of responsibility towards society.

The fourth pillar is Sawm, or fasting during the month of Ramadan, which was the topic presented by our group of five members. Fasting is more than abstaining from food and drink; it is about controlling desires, strengthening taqwa, and building good character. Ramadan is a blessed month when the Qur’an was revealed, Laylatul Qadr occurs, and rewards are multiplied. It teaches Muslims patience, gratitude, and self-discipline, while also serving as a reminder of the struggles faced by the less fortunate.

The fifth pillar is Hajj, the pilgrimage to Makkah, which is obligatory once in a lifetime for those who are able. It includes rituals such as ihram, tawaf, sa’i, and wuquf at Arafah. The purpose of Hajj is to worship Allah, follow the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim, and purify the heart. It also symbolizes unity, as all Muslims stand equal regardless of wealth or status.

In a nutshell, the five pillars of Islam are the foundation that guides Muslims in faith and practice. They strengthen the relationship between a servant and Allah while nurturing moral values and social responsibility. Through this usrah, we understood that every pillar has its own unique role in shaping a complete Muslim. Our group of five members, which presented the topic of Fasting, reflected on how Sawm is a powerful way to build patience, gratitude, and taqwa while drawing closer to Allah.

Here, I also attach the link to our slide for reference

https://www.canva.com/design/DAGyslFtAn4/W3Fe6yCVyn7tZv4uGuqBaw/edit?utm_content=DAGyslFtAn4&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=sharebutton

Assalamualaikum and hello everyone! 🌸🌸🌸

For Week 3 and Week 4, our usrah discussions were combined under one theme, which is the Pillars of Iman.

In Week 3, we focused on the first three pillars, namely belief in Allah, belief in the angels, and belief in the revealed books. We were reminded that belief in Allah means recognizing Him as the only Creator and Sustainer of the universe, while belief in the angels means acknowledging that they are Allah’s servants created from light who always obey His commands. Belief in the revealed books, such as the Torah, Zabur, Injil, and the Qur’an, highlights the guidance that Allah has provided to mankind throughout history. During this session, we also answered quizzes on Wayground and watched a Nussa video related to the pillars of iman. At the end, our task was to reflect on the characteristics of the angels.

In Week 4, we continued with the remaining three pillars, which are belief in the messengers, the Day of Judgment, and Qada’ and Qadar. Belief in the messengers teaches us that all prophets were sent by Allah to guide mankind, with Prophet Muhammad ﷺ being the final messenger. Belief in the Day of Judgment reminds us that every soul will be resurrected and held accountable for their deeds. Meanwhile, belief in Qada’ and Qadar means accepting that everything happens according to Allah’s knowledge and will, whether good or bad. The activities for this week included singing the 25 Rasul song together. The task given was to reflect on the challenges faced by the prophets and how we can learn from their stories in our own lives. The task given was to reflect on the challenges faced by the prophets and how we can take lessons from their stories for example, their patience in the face of hardship, their perseverance in spreading da’wah, and their trust in Allah’s plan. From this, we can learn to be more resilient, steadfast in our faith, and sincere in our actions.

Overall, from these two weeks, I learned that the Pillars of Iman form the foundation of a Muslim’s faith. Each pillar strengthens our relationship with Allah, helps us understand our purpose in life, and guides us to live with sincerity and trust in His plan. The interactive activities made the sessions engaging, while the tasks encouraged us to think deeply and apply these lessons to our daily lives. It was both educational and enjoyable at the same time !

Here, I also attach the link for reference https://wayground.com/admin/presentation/6236b2ddd50f20001e207518?source=lesson_share

That’s all from me, thank you 😊✨

IHSAN & ESCHATOLOGY

Assalamualaikum everyone !! For Week 5, our usrah focused on the topics of Ihsan and Eschatology, both of which were explained as central concepts in Islam that shape a Muslim’s faith and actions.

The first part of the discussion was on Ihsan. Ihsan means doing something with excellence, sincerity, and perfection, whether in acts of worship or in our interactions with people. In the Hadith of Jibril, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ described ihsan as “to worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot see Him, then know that He sees you.” This reminds us that all our deeds, no matter how small, are observed by Allah and should be done with sincerity. The topic of ihsan can also be related to verses from Sūrah al-Isra’ (17: 22–39), where Allah commands believers to avoid shirk, to uphold kindness towards parents, to speak with humility, to fulfill promises, and to maintain justice. These verses emphasize excellence and sincerity in both worship and dealings with others, which are the essence of ihsan. In daily life, ihsan can be practiced through small but meaningful actions such as being honest, helping others without expecting anything in return, performing prayers with focus, and showing kindness even in difficult situations.

The second part of the session focused on Eschatology, which comes from the Greek words eschatos meaning “last” and logos meaning “knowledge.” In Islam, it refers to belief in what happens after death and the events of the Hereafter. This belief is one of the Pillars of Iman, which includes the grave (Barzakh), resurrection, the Day of Judgment, the reckoning and the weighing of deeds, and finally the eternal destinations of Paradise and Hellfire. In the Hadith of Jibril, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also explained about the coming of the Hour and mentioned its signs. Among them are that a slave-girl will give birth to her mistress, and that barefoot, naked, poor shepherds will compete in building tall buildings. These are reminders of how the world will change dramatically as the end approaches.

To conclude the session, our usrah assistant gave us a task to reflect on: If you knew that the Day of Judgment was very near, what is the first thing you would change in your daily life?

If I knew that the Day of Judgment was near, the first thing I would change is to strengthen my relationship with Allah by increasing my worship and repentance. I would strive to perform my prayers more perfectly, recite more Qur’an, and guard my time from being wasted. At the same time, I would try to improve my character by being more patient, kind, and helpful towards others. This is because on that Day, only our faith and deeds will matter, and I want to stand before Allah with sincerity and hope for His mercy.

I hope that through what we learned about Ihsan and Eschatology, we can all strive to be better Muslims, not just for ourselves but for our ummah, so that we live with sincerity and prepare for the Hereafter together.

#bettermuslim

ADAB VS AKHLAK

Assalamualaikum and hi everyone!

So this week is actually our last usrah session together 🥹 Alhamdulillah, it has been such a beautiful journey for me to learn and share with all of you these past weeks. I really appreciate the time we’ve spent, because each session gave me new lessons that I can bring into my daily life. Thank you also to our usrah assistant for always guiding us with patience and clear explanations. For this final session, we discussed the topic of Adab vs Akhlak, which is something very important and close to our daily lives.

Adab refers to manners, etiquette, and outward behaviour, while Akhlaq refers to inner character, morals, and values that shape a person’s personality. Our usrah assistant, Sr Fatin explained it beautifully with the example of a tree. Akhlaq is like the roots—although hidden, they are the foundation. If the roots are strong and healthy, the tree will grow beautifully. Adab, on the other hand, is like the flowers and fruits—these are visible to everyone. If the roots are good, the flowers will bloom and the fruits will be sweet. But if the roots are corrupted, even if the outside looks fine at first, eventually the tree will wither.

In short, akhlak shapes the inside, while adab reflects the outside. A person with pure akhlaq will naturally show good adab in their words and actions.

For the task, we were asked: Between adab and akhlaq, which one is harder to maintain, and why? Personally, I think akhlak is harder to maintain because it comes from the heart and inner self. It requires sincerity, self-control, and continuous effort to purify our intentions. Adab, on the other hand, is something people can see and correct easily, but akhlaq needs deeper reflection and strong faith to keep it pure.

That’s all from me for this week and also for our usrah journey. Thank you everyone for being part of this experience. I hope we can continue to apply what we’ve learned—may Allah grant us pure akhlak, beautiful adab, and make us among those who benefit others. 🌸

Assalamualaikum and hello!🧏🏻‍♀️🧏🏻‍♀️🧏🏻‍♀️

For this usrah task, I am required to do roleplay either through video or a poster in a group. My group, consisting of Bella, Solehah, Ain, Sarah, and me, chose to create a poster with the topic “Adab Towards Parents” and the theme “Jannah Lies at Their Feet.” Through this poster, we wanted to highlight the importance of respecting and honoring our parents in Islam.

MY TASK

My task for this group poster was to explain the part “Daily Examples of Good Manners Towards Parents.” In this section, I shared about simple but meaningful ways we can show respect and love to our parents in our daily lives. For example, greeting them with salam and a warm smile, helping with household chores, and speaking kindly to make them feel appreciated. I also explained that even small actions, when done sincerely, can strengthen the bond of love in the family and bring comfort to our parents’ hearts.

Overall, this task reminded us that parents hold a very special place in Islam. Showing adab through love, obedience, and kindness is not only a form of respect but also a way to gain Allah’s pleasure and blessings.

That’s all from me, thank you!!!

Assalamualaikum and hello everyone !

First of all, I would like to say thank you to our usrah assistant, Sr Fatin and all my fellow friends for making this semester’s usrah sessions such a meaningful and enjoyable experience. Every session was filled with valuable lessons, reflections, and discussions that helped me understand Islam in a more personal and deeper way. I’m truly grateful for the guidance, patience, and kindness shown throughout our time together. Throughout our usrah sessions this semester, I have learned and reflected on many important lessons that have helped me grow as a Muslim, both spiritually and personally. Each topic we discussed carried deep values that reminded me of the beauty and completeness of Islam as a way of life.

In the first few sessions, we learned about Adab in Learning, which taught me that gaining knowledge is not only about studying or memorizing, but also about having the right attitude and manners as a student. It reminded me that knowledge becomes truly beneficial only when it is pursued with sincerity, respect towards teachers, and humility.

Next, through the Pillars of Islam and Pillars of Iman, I was reminded of the foundation of our faith. These sessions helped strengthen my understanding of how each pillar connects, from practicing the five daily prayers and fasting during Ramadan, to believing in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Day of Judgment, and His divine decree. It made me reflect on how important it is to not only know these pillars, but to truly live by them in our daily actions and mindset.

When we learned about Ihsan and Eschatology, I was especially inspired. The meaning of ihsan — to worship Allah as if we see Him, and if we cannot see Him, to know that He sees us — touched my heart deeply. It reminded me to always do everything with sincerity and excellence, whether in worship or in dealing with people. The discussion about the Hereafter (eschatology) also made me more aware of how short our life in this world is, and how we should always prepare for the Day of Judgment through repentance, good deeds, and a sincere heart.

Lastly, the topic of Adab vs Akhlak taught me to understand the difference between outward manners and inner character. I realized that having good adab reflects what people see on the outside, but having pure akhlak is what defines who we truly are on the inside. Both must go hand in hand for a person to be truly righteous.

Overall, this usrah journey has been such a meaningful experience for me. It not only increased my knowledge about Islam but also encouraged me to apply what I learned in my daily life. I feel more aware of my responsibilities as a Muslim and more motivated to become a better person for the sake of Allah and my ummah. May Allah continue to guide us and grant us the strength to practice what we have learned 🌸

This is a picture of my usrah group — the people who made every session more fun, meaningful, and memorable🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 Throughout this usrah journey, I’ve learned a lot not only about Islamic knowledge but also about self-improvement and reflection. Each topic has inspired me to become a better version of myself, both spiritually and personally.

However, I also realize that there are still many things I can improve. One of them is to be more confident and active during our sessions. Sometimes, I hesitate to share my thoughts even when I have something to say. In the future, I hope to participate more, express my opinions confidently, and contribute more during discussions. I also want to improve my consistency in practicing what I’ve learned, especially in showing good akhlak, sincerity (ihsan), and adab in daily life.

As for my suggestions, I think it would be nice if our future usrah sessions included more interactive activities like group discussions, sharing circles, or mini reflections at the end of each class. It would make the learning more engaging and help everyone build closer connections.

Overall, I’m truly grateful for this usrah experience. It has taught me valuable lessons that I can carry throughout my life, in shaa Allah. Hope to see you guys next time! 🌸

This week was our very first usrah session for sem 2 and it served as a warm and welcoming introduction to our group. We began by getting to know each other through a simple introduction round, where everyone shared a bit about themselves. It was a nice way to learn new names and backgrounds, it helped us feel more connected from the start.

To make the session more lively, our usrah assistant, Sr. Hannan, introduced a fun bonding activity. She encouraged each of us to sing a snippet of our favourite song. Even though some of us were shy at first, it turned into a joyful moment filled with laughter and positive energy. The activity helped break the ice, ease the atmosphere, and bring everyone closer together.

ACQUISITION OF HIKMAH

Assalamualaikum and hi !! This week’s usrah we focused on the acquisition of hikmah as an important value in Islam that can be developed through knowledge, worship, and righteous conduct. Hikmah was defined as intellect and wisdom that allow a person to understand the true nature of things and act in accordance with Allah’s commands. The discussion emphasised that hikmah is closely linked to ibadah, as acts of worship cultivate inner qualities such as sincerity, humility, and devotion, which contribute to the development of wisdom.

The session also highlighted the role of niyyah, stressing that every action is judged by intention and that deeds performed without sincere niyyah may not be accepted by Allah. Setting the correct niyyah requires sincerity, purity of intention, clarity, focus, and consistency. In addition, amal was discussed as the practice of good deeds and acts of worship that reflect one’s faith. Performing amal with sincerity and consistency not only strengthens personal devotion but also benefits the wider community through kindness and service.

Finally, the concept of ihsan was explained based on the hadith of Jibril, which describes ihsan as worshipping Allah as if one sees Him, and maintaining awareness that Allah is always watching. Ihsan also involves internalising positive virtues such as patience, honesty, compassion, and humility, and practising them continuously until they become part of one’s character and way of life.

This week’s usrah discussed the hikmah of ibadah in shaping balanced individuals as part of the Ummah Wasatan. Ibadah trains Muslims to fulfil their role as servants of Allah and khalifah on earth while preparing for the hereafter.

We reflected on prayer (solat) as a means of moral discipline that restrains believers from immorality through constant remembrance of Allah. Fasting (sawm) was highlighted as spiritual training that nurtures taqwa, patience, and self-control, with a unique reward directly from Allah.

The session also covered zakat, which purifies wealth and the soul by removing greed and encouraging social responsibility, as well as Hajj, which represents total devotion to Allah through physical, financial, and spiritual sacrifice.

In conclusion, ibadah refines human nature and prepares believers to become responsible khalifah and servants who are ready for both dunya and akhirah.

Assalamualaikum and hello everyone! 🌸🌸🌸

For Week 3, our usrah discussion focused on the preparation of salah with khushu’, covering the basics of solat, wuduk, and tayammum, as well as the meaning of khushu’ and ways to develop focus and humility in prayer.

Salah is an obligation upon every Muslim who is Islam, of sound mind, and baligh, and its validity depends on fulfilling the required conditions such as cleanliness from hadas and najis, covering aurat, facing the qiblat, and performing it within its prescribed time. Salah consists of essential pillars that must be performed in order, while sunnah practices enhance the perfection of prayer. Proper wuduk serves as an essential preparation for salah, and tayammum acts as an alternative when water is unavailable, reflecting the ease in Islamic teachings. Central to this discussion is khushu’, which involves humility, focus, and awareness of standing before Allah, and can be cultivated through proper preparation and understanding. During the usrah, we also shared our opinions and personal reflections on these topics, exchanging experiences and reminders on how to improve khushu’ in our daily prayers.

In conclusion, this usrah reminded us that achieving khushu’ in salah requires both correct knowledge and sincere preparation. By understanding the rulings of solat, wuduk, and tayammum, and by applying practical steps to improve focus and humility, we can enhance the quality of our prayers. The sharing of opinions during the discussion also helped us gain new perspectives and encouraged us to continuously strive for a more meaningful connection with Allah through our salah.

Assalamualaikum and hi !! Alhamdulilllah, all praise is due to Allah S.W.T. for granting us the opportunity to gather in this usrah. In this week, we will reflect on the topic Salah with Khushu'.

Salah with khushu' means praying with full presence of heart and mind, humility, and calmness before Allah. It is not limited to physical movements but reflects true devotion. Allah describes successful believers as those who humble themselves in prayer (Al-Mu’minun 23:1–2).

Khushu' in Salah strengthens one’s relationship with Allah, shapes good character, and helps prevent sinful behaviour. Through prayer, believers gain patience, guidance, and spiritual strength.

Salah with khushu' nurtures important Islamic values such as obedience to Allah (al-Ta'ah), inner struggle against laziness and distractions (al-Jihad), self-reflection (muhasabah), modesty and self-restraint (iffah), and humility (tawaddu').

In conclusion, khushu' is the soul of Salah. When prayer is performed with sincerity and awareness, it transforms the heart, strengthens iman, and positively influences daily life.

Assalamualaikum and hi !! In Week 5, our usrah session focused on the topic of fasting (sawm) and its virtues, based on Surah Al-Baqarah verse 183. Allah addresses the believers directly, emphasizing that fasting is an obligation linked to faith and was also prescribed to previous nations.

During the session, we also participated in an explorace activity, where each group was assigned different parts of the topic. This activity helped us understand the concept of fasting in a more interactive and engaging way. After completing the explorace, each group was required to present their assigned section to the rest of the usrah members.

My group was assigned the hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah (RA) about the importance of leaving lies and bad conduct while fasting. We presented our part through a short role-play, followed by an explanation. This helped us realise that fasting should shape our character, not just our physical habits.

Overall, the session was interactive and meaningful. It reminded me that fasting is a form of self-discipline that teaches patience, self-control, and empathy towards others.

Assalamualaikum and hi !!! For our group roleplay, we were required to create a video based on the topic “Why We Need to Be Khusyuk in Our Salah.”We started with a short acting scene showing how a person’s focus in prayer can easily be disturbed by a noisy environment. It made me realise how often our khusyuk is affected in daily life.

This roleplay was prepared by my group, which consists of myself, Dina, Kak Syafiqah, Amy, and Hanan. After the acting scene, we shared explanations on why khusyuk is important in our prayers. We discussed how without khusyuk, salah can feel like a routine, but with focus and sincerity, it becomes more meaningful and helps us feel closer to Allah.

My part focused on how khusyuk brings peace. I shared that many people pray but still feel restless. When we truly focus on Allah during salah, it becomes a source of calmness and comfort, not a burden.

Overall, this usrah reminded me that khusyuk is about being present with Allah. It encouraged me to reflect on my own prayers and strive to find more peace through them.

That's all from me, thank you !!

Assalamualaikum and hi !!! In Week 6, our usrah session focused on the topic of Zakah and Sadaqah, specifically the virtues and importance of zakah in Islam. During this session, we discussed how zakah is one of the pillars of Islam and how it is not meant to burden Muslims, but instead to purify wealth and strengthen both individual faith and social responsibility.

We also shared our opinions and thoughts during the discussion. One of the topics we talked about was the difference between zakah and tax. Zakah is an act of worship commanded by Allah and is given to specific eligible groups, while tax is a government obligation used for public administration. This discussion helped us understand that zakah has both spiritual and social dimensions, unlike tax which is mainly administrative.

From this session, I learned many new things, especially about how zakah builds tawakkul (trust in Allah) and ukhuwah (brotherhood) among Muslims. Giving zakah shows that a person relies on Allah rather than wealth, and it also helps create unity, care, and empathy within the community.

Overall, this usrah session increased my understanding of zakah and made me realise its importance not only as an obligation, but also as a means to purify the heart, help others, and strengthen the Muslim community.
