The Battle of Bighorn was a battle between the  Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes and the 7th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army.  The battle happened because the tribes would not move from their home lands, this caused a large conflict between the two armies. It was an amazing victory for the Native Americans Crazy Horse and Chief Gall, inspired by the visions of Sitting Bull. The Native's put a hurt on 5 of the 7th Cavalry's 12 companies. This all caused for a total U.S death count of 268 soldiers including Custer and many of his relatives. The tribes fared much better with only losing 6 of their "troops".
