#1 Response: How does the banning of books on certain topics affect the writing of future books on these topics?
The banning of books in regards to certain topics can lead to a decline in books being written about those subjects because of both social prejudice and different hoops that might need to be jumped through by authors. For instance, social prejudice would start to increase as books were banned, so authors would feel more pressured to not produce those books, etc, and if they did decide to still write about the taboo topic, there would probably be limitations placed on what/how they wrote about it.

#8 Response: To what extent should age be taken into consideration when banning books?
While I don't think age should be a factor in banned books, it might be useful in terms of restricting books to certain grade school ages. The main thing would be more gruesome or detail-oriented books (such as those deep-diving into the Holocaust or showing more grotesque pictures of events such as Bloody Sunday) would be restricted for younger ages but available for older students, kind of like how they rate movies for audiences.

Book banning is a practice rooted deep in American history, that has negative consequences both for potential readers of these books and for authors of these books. By banning, restricting, or censoring books, people are less likely to express what they feel are controversial opinions that may be banned. This infringes on rights guaranteed to them by the constitution. Similarly, limiting access to books by censoring them in any form means people will not have access to viewpoints that are extreme, but realistic nonetheless, or views that are unlike their own. This means they will have an incomplete scope of what the real world is like, and will form opinions and live their lives through this limited scope. In short, books should not be banned or restricted, regardless of their contents or the personal beliefs of those attempting to ban them.

2. Congratulations, now the celebration of banning the books will bring more attention to the books and then there will be others that disagree with the banning and the debate would start all over again. This could be good or bad in some cases though.
7. Banning books and prohibiting people from reading these books is ethically wrong based on the age groups, the target audience, how factual it is, and how it’s labeled. These factors should be taken into account when banning books from being sold or even nationally. If parents want to ban certain books for their children, it should be limited to grouped pre-pubescent minors and even then the banning should be discussed by all those involved. Parents should not, however, be dictating the decisions on whether or not teens should have access to certain books. If a book is going to be banned, then the community should get together and discuss what the issue with the book is, along with an unbiased opinion from others. The banning of books based on making certain groups of people uncomfortable is not a good enough reason, and if the contents of the books really do cause problems then there should be enough evidence to back up the claim.

Book banning is the banning, censoring, or restricting access to books .this has negative impacts on people because it limits their view of real-world issues and affects critical thinking skills. Most of the books being targeted by bans are those involving topics like race (CRT), sexuality, LGBTQ+, politics, and religion. Banning access to books like these does not allow people to get a grip on other scopes of reality which will give them a shock when they see the real world which is not a good thing.

Q1:
Have you considered the possibility of students in the pre-teen years becoming negatively influenced by too much profanity/violence/hate speech depicted inside a book? It could be their first time being exposed to an unfamiliar “TABOO” scenario inside of a book that is portrayed in a negative connotation. For example, if a racist remark is seen inside a school book for youth, do you think they aren’t prone to conforming to that opinion. Especially given that they are under the age of properly understanding these concepts. All their knowledge would be limited due to it being based on the book source creating a bias. What if the idea is censored in a positive connotation, where the information could benefit the student instead?

I do agree though, that for the most part, book banning is wrong as it is restricting people who just want to enjoy a book in peace.

Q1. There is also a possibility that banning certain kinds of books can inhibit authors from writing about those subjects. This is a result of both social prejudice and possible hoops to jump through. In cases like these, social prejudice would increase as books were banned, so authors would feel more pressure to avoid discussing the taboo topic. If they did write about the taboo topic, it would be restricted in what/how it was expressed.
Q7. Books should not be banned and people shouldn't be prohibited from reading them, considering the age groups, the target audiences and how factual they are. It is imperative to take these factors into consideration when banning books that are being sold. Parental banning of certain books should only apply to minors, and even then it should be discussed by all involved parties.
