Is it based on their interactions with others, is it a study of their cognitive activity, is it a linear process, etc.?

To collect data, I will teach lessons where students are encouraged to develop arguments, while also collecting field notes, student work, and data from video observations. Case studies of individual students.

Pros: Gives value to individual students' processes in developing an argument in mathematics; the researcher can involve himself by "guiding" the lessons, etc.

C. Pros: Able to capture differences in interpretation, and nuances in people's reactions... 
Cons: Lots of different perspectives based on context of each protest and place where people are responding (in person, online, etc). Would need to explore contextual factors to add to ability to interpret (and probably do considerable member checking).
