At first when the missionaries arrived, Japan accepted them. But, as they were converting more and more of the japanese, shogun Ieyasu did not approve. At first he didn't say anything because he was to scared that he would drive them off which could lead to ruining the Japan economy because they had many good trades with them. But, then he banned Christianity and it was an on and off until the Europeans were killed and driven off which lead to no Christianity at all.

The isolation went on for more than 200 years. The city of Nagasaki is also known for having many great-war industries like; military equipment, ships, and other war materials.
