She was the first black teacher I had ever had. The way she ran her classroom was all about us loving literature and loving history. She has us do presentations every week on something and pushed the joy factor every day. She has high expectations for all of her students. She would tell us she loved us all the time and that the way she showed her love was by making sure we knew how smart we were.
