The 18th Amendment established the prohibition of alcohol on the 18th December, 1917 which was ratified in 1919.

Indeed  many musicians allows the development of jazz like Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington , or King Oliver. They were pioneers of jazz.
Jazz is a mix of blues, work songs and European's music. They used  brass and woodwind instruments. 
It allows to express love , depression, distress .
Characteristics of jazz are the "swing" and "improvisation" .

They tried to break the image of the women in the society .
Moreover women started wearing shorts dresses. People at that time where shocked but women were not afraid to showing their bodies. People danced on jazz music and did party, flappers did their show. There were lots of dances like the Charleston, the Peabody and the turkey trot.
