Wealth is very prevalent in the book from the first page to the last. All of the main characters have a lot of it and they all like to show it off.
“Everybody thinks so—the most advanced people. And I know. I’ve been everywhere and seen everything and done everything . . . Sophisticated—God, I’m sophisticated!" (Pg 74.)

Greed is something we also see a lot of throughout the story. The characters love making money are often extremely ignorant about their wealth. This picture does a great job at showing the blindness money can give some people. Blindness from real world problems, blindness from their own sadness, and blindness from reality in general.

The man also has a quote bubble that shows no matter how many things he has, he still isn't happy. It shows how no matter how many things you may have, it still doesn't guarantee you will be happy.

This picture shows how a lot of the wealthier characters in the book act. The characters seem to act as if it doesn't effect them it doesn't matter at all, or if it DOES effect them, then they feel everybody should immediately focus on that person.
"They were careless people, Tom and Daisy—they smashed up things and . . . then retreated back into their money . . . and let other people clean up the mess they had made." (Pg 179.)

Unconditional love is truly priceless"
-Suzy Kassem
This quote describes Gatsby perfectly her may have money, fame, elaborate parties and celebrations, but Gatsby has no one to love him and that's why he is so obsessed with Daisy because he is convinced she will complete his life

I think this image portrays dissatisfaction perfectly because it shows a man who is troubled by the 2 food items he has, one which is burnt, and the other which he claims isn't real. Now whether he is correct or not doesn't matter, what matters is that the man isn't even satisfied with the food at all. Because the food isn't how he likes it he refuses to even accept it. And in the book no one is satisfied with their life, love, marriage, or wealth.
"I suppose he'd had the name ready for a long time, even then. His parents were shiftless and unsuccessful farm people – his imagination had never really accepted them as his parents at all." (Pg.99)

This picture shows the embarrassment of a baseball player after he drops a ball. The player after, makes excuses for why he couldn't catch the ball. This is something many people do in the real world because people don't want to be thought of as less by other people. "You see, cried Catherine triumphantly. She lowered her voice again. "It's really his wife that's keeping them apart. She's a Catholic, and they don't believe in divorce." Daisy was not a Catholic, and I was a little shocked at the elaborateness of the lie. " (Pg. 33)

"We need more kindness, more compassion, more joy, more laughter. I definitely want to contribute to that" - Ellen Degeneres
This quote really shows the importance of caring for someone. How having compassion for people makes the world a better place overall. "I wanted to get somebody for him. I wanted to go into the room where he lay and reassure him: "I’ll get somebody for you, Gatsby. Don’t worry. Just trust me and I'll get somebody for you..."

I use the word hollow to describe all the characters because as happy as the character may seem, most of them are truly sad and depressed on the inside. The author gave this trait to the characters because it shows that money can't really buy happiness which is an important thing for people to understand so they don't
have unrealistic perceptions of happiness.

Loneliness is prevalent in all of the characters lives because they all seem to have the desire to want more. They are tired of being with the same person or are tired with being alone in general. The characters drown out their loneliness with their money, lavish parties, and expensive clothing. This picture shows a modern version of this where people try to drown out their loneliness with social media and constant brain stimulation. https://lowres.cartooncollections.com/modern_life-phone-smartphones-smart_phone-mobile_phone-social-issues-CC135301_low.jpg
