My mom was involved in a horrific train accident in 2018, we never thought she was going to survive this due to the extensive injuries that she suffered. Almost 3 years later, she is learning to walk with the aid of a prostheses. It has been a challenge to get her involved in things she used to do. However, with encouragement she is finding her passions like gardening once again.This just goes to show the potential we have within ourselves and more so for the children we teach. They can be stars in their own right if given the chance to do so.


Considering the disparities existent in our South African education system, what is your opinion on teaching ALL children?

It will take the right education and knowledge know how, self determination and the necessary support from the school. All learners have their own talents and potentials. It is left to the educator to know their student, their strengths and weaknesses and their potential. I do not believe in limitations. I see them as a stepping stone to achievement. An Inclusive educator becomes a voice for the young special needs learner. Its through changed mindsets  and attitudes that inclusion can be a success.  What seemed to be impossible becomes possible. Yes teachers are capable of teaching all learners that come into their classroom. In a classroom there are learners with different abilities and each learner is unique and has a different learner style.
