Resilience is a huge thing in todays world. If you don't have it your not going to go far. Like in the book there is a lot of resilience shown. There are things that are going to happen, In Water Booger Bears great resilience is shown. Jasmine has this great friend and a pretty good life going on right now. All of the sudden life took a turn, She got a disease called Sickle Cell disease, she had to leave school and treat that. If that isn't even hard enough she had to show up to school after. She came back and everything was different, people looked at her different, people wouldn't talk, and the feel wasn't how it was when she left. Jasmine had to show great resilience and come back in cold. She said TJ was always there for her though. "He would tear at the toughness Jasmine had built up over the year." Jasmine came back and got better everyday, that is a great example of resilience. Another great example is in 5 things easier, Bit had to show resilience with his mom. His mom has cancer, and he had to help. He had to show toughness to be able to help his mom. He had to show so much toughness to the point he stole, sold, and gave the money to his mom. Even know that probably not the right way to make the money it show how mentally strong and how much he cares to do this for his mom. "I can't let her see how much it hurts, because she need me to be strong for her." That is resilience right there. both of these stories show so much and are great examples. We should try to be as strong as them mentally.

I think Jasmine is a good character to talk about. She showed great development as the story went on. She got sickle cell disease, had to leave school and come back. She came back from her sickness and everyone looked at her different. She showed resilience and toughness coming back cold like she did. She developed as the story went on and grew as a person. Tough times make tough people, I think that's the case with Jasmine. She said "TJ was always there to chip some of the hard off." She had support but had to be strong herself.

A big symbol is garbage. In the story Jasmine and TJ would throw chip bags in each others locker. This showed that they were always there for each other in the hardest times. TJ helped Jasmine as she came back from her sickness. He was there to help but she obviously had to work at it herself. This chip bag show support, friendship, kindness, and fun. I think by TJ doing this with Jasmine helped a lot. It took a lot off of Jasmine with all that was going on. Jasmine called this "A little love in her locker."

Being Resilient mean to persevere through hard times. This means to rise above adversity and overcome our problems. When it's the hardest time you become a tougher person. In this story there is a lot of resilience. You have to RISE above all that is going on and get through hard times. It's easy to get through easy times. Real character is built when it gets tough. That's why when you get through something hard you feel super good, you feel like you did something super hard and it feels that much better than an easy problem. So if you show a little bit of resilience you can overcome any problem.
