In chapter 1, we see Marcelos story in such great detail. Not only what he did, but who he was as a person which let us see in depth into the whole situation. Rather, if we just saw this from Peters Twitter, it might just be written as "Teens arrested for robbings and assault". Pete and Marcelo were also very persistent. Marcelo wanted to change and put effort into that. Pete also put in great effort into his job and staying consistent with posting. They both have great motivation for what thet aspire to do, and while it would be very easy to give up due to the immense stress, the all keep pushing towards it for their own personal goals.

Lisa relates to Peter in a way because they both have unique ways of dealing with their grief, they both went outside of the norms of grief especially the kind that we look at in this book. they have both been hurt by the crimes that have happened in Chicago and know that it wont stop. They both wish they had the answers they were looking for but also are realistic in the sense that they know they wont get the answers because that is just how life, especially in Chicago, works. They know that there is so much violence and that people are dying for no reason. They also know that anyone could be the next person to go and they can try to stop it but that doesn't mean they will.
