• The chef: "Arôme" is a shared project between local favorite restaurant owners and homemade recipes from our loved ones to showcase our world-famous cuisine through a gastronomic lens. Food is much more than what we put on a plate. To us, food is a way to show ingenuity and tradition while also spreading love from those around us.

• The dish: We offer 2 courses and an a la carte menu. Each course is specially designed to represent two sides of Hanoi's food scene: "Lề đường" to represent street food and "Ấm cúng" to represent Vietnamese homestyle meals. Our a la carte menu is a mix of Vietnamese and Western cuisine.

• The produce: All of our ingredients come from locally sourced farms 30 km away from the city center. We personally check our suppliers and their agricultural methods to ensure fresh and diverse products are being supplied each day. All of these farms also have government-approved agricultural activities.

Waste management

Most of our organic wastes are recycled via composting on our roof and used to grow herbs and other greens within the proximity of the hotel. Plastics and metal cans are recycled into parts of the hotel's decor and construction materials.

Building - Hanoi's Old Quarter is known for its narrow buildings and deep alleyways that hide an ecosystem of homes and living areas. Our hotel is built based on the foundations of these communal homes and has been refurnished for your comfort and sustainability.

• Guests are invited to immerse themselves in the history of an old Hanoi throughout their stay and have a peek at the lives of those who have lived there and the people of Hanoi

• By transforming the building rather than building a new one, we have prevented thousands of metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions and construction waste from ending up in landfills.

• Construction materials include recycled content such as reinforced steel with 85% post-consumer recycled content, 90% for drywall, 70% for staircase steel, and concrete containing 5% fly ash (hazardous residue of coal burning) which diverts all of these materials from landfills.

• 90% of construction waste is recycled, diverting tons of debris from landfills.

Energy - Utilizing state-of-the-art technology and practicing energy conservation practices, Charm uses less energy than most other hotels of the same caliber. Your stay will be both pleasant for you and for the planet.

• Sensors are put in every room to monitor temperature and lighting to change based on occupancy automatically.

• Every room has windows to ensure an abundance of natural lighting and reduce energy use during the day.

• Solar panels are installed on the roof of the hotel which supplies 80% of the hotel's energy

Water - Every drop of water is precious and as part of our mission, we are obligated to conserve this precious resource

• Low-flow showerheads, faucets, and toilets are used to save water

• Rainwater is collected, filtered, and used as a source of water

• A water filtration system is installed so 90% of wastewater is reused. Creating a loop water system for the hotel and we are aiming to reach 100% to minimize excess water usage as much as possible.

• Encourage guests to reuse towels and linen throughout their stay and cut down on unnecessary laundry.

Air - Although Hanoi is known for its high AQI level, Charm has installed a whole-building air purification system that continuously circulates air throughout the building, from the inside to the outside and vice versa.

All of our amenities are made from recycled (plastic, glass, metal from cans,...) and natural materials (wood, bamboo,...). Soaps, toothpaste, and skin care products are all locally sourced from eco-friendly boutiques (M.O.I, Cocoon, CO MEM) and made from natural materials such as natural oils (olive, soybean, vegetable,...), coffee, and local herbs and plants (rice, pomelo skin, ...). Each room also has large glass water bottles to reduce plastic waste.

Taking inspiration from Hanoi's "Bao Cấp" era and the homes in the back alleys of the Old Quarter, the experience will bring you back in time and let you experience a long-forgotten part of this ever-changing city. Cassettes, radios, wooden furniture, ... we hope to give you a new perspective on Hanoi's history while having a comfortable stay.
