My Call to Adventure

On my first day of high school, I experienced the call to action when my dad came into my room and started flickering the light to wake me up. I then had to get ready and go outside to the sound of my ride's horn.

This is a call to adventure because I chose to wake up and I also chose to get a ride to school.

My Challenges

Throughout the first half of the year, I was given many tests and quizzes in each of my classes. Every single test and quiz tested my mental readiness in high school.

Each one was a challenge because I had to prepare for them by studying and learning about the subject being tested.

My Transformation

On the first day of school I started out as very nervous and scared because I didn't know what to expect in high school. As the year went on, though, I began to be more confident and prideful because I then understood what to do and what to expect.

This is the transformation step because I changed from being scared and nervous to being confident and prideful. This wasn't a physical change, but it was mental, as I changed the way I viewed things and the way I interacted in different situations.

My Return

At the end of the first semester we all got to on Winter Break. During this break, I was able to go back to my home for an extended period of time and I didn't have to worry about the stress of homework and quizzes. Everything had just gone back to what I felt was normal.

This is an example of the return step because I went back to my everyday life at home and didn't do things the same as when I went to school.

Bilbo's Call to Adventure

In the film and the book, The Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins is asked to go on an adventure by the wizard Gandalf with some dwarves. Bilbo first said no, but ultimately decided to join the dwarves.

This is a call to adventure because Bilbo is directly asked to go on an adventure by Gandalf. Plus, Bilbo initially decline Gandalf's invitation as stated in the def. of the call to adventure step.

Bilbo's Returm

In the Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins returns to the Shire, his home, after Smaug the dragon was killed. He returns only to find his stuff being sold and the town thinking he's dead.

This is an example of the return step because Bilbo comes back to the Shire after leaving to fight Smaug. He return to find things different, matching the def. of the return step.

Bilbo's Challenges

Throughout his adventure, Bilbo faced multiple challenges. He had to fight orcs, solve Smeagol's riddles, and face Smaug.

This is an example of the challenge step because each challenge put Bilbo in an uncomfortable position in which he learned from. These situations helped Bilbo progress even further into his adventures.

Bilbo's Transformation

At the start of the adventure, Bilbo started out as a shy, innocent hobbit who didn't fight. But when he was forced into uncomfortable situations, such as his confrontation with Smaug, Bilbo learned he needed to change. He became stronger and more brave than he was before.

This illustrates the transformation step because Bilbo changed his personality from shy to brave during the adventure.
