Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of musicians, poets and the blind, was a Roman noblewoman with an unknown date of birth who died on November 22 (date of her holiday) 230. Converted to Christianity, martyred and beheaded for her faith. .
Married to Valerian of Rome, she was canonized by Pope Gregory XIII in 1594.
