Upon reading it you'll find the many flaws my writing suffered from in the beginning of the year. I was told by my teacher how I was missing multiple important parts of a rhetorical analysis. I hated to admit it when I saw the comments but she was right. However my next work makes a noticeable step up in quality.

Ethics Argument Letter

The Ethics Argument Letter is the next piece of writing on my portfolio. So far it was one of my longest works yet in this class and was about an argument made against a person, whether you know them or not. This argument explains a thing that person did or said and tells them that it's morally wrong and why. I wrote about something my friend did to me that I consider uncceptable behavior. We're still friends now though, don't worry. Anyways this work has a couple praisworthy improvements over my first work. My teacher would go on to tell me how she liked that my 4th paragraphy had a strong apppeal to ethos. She also thought I nailed the overall tone of the letter. Though like I said my journey through AP lang wasn't as fruitful as I'd hoped and so of course I messed some things up. That's something that you won't see change throughout my portfolio. I didn't go into detail enough about why what my friend did was so upsetting, nor did I ever really shift my line of reasoning. It's not a major improvement but it's something. And some improvement is better than none.

AP Practice: Synthesis

When I wrote my Synthesis for AP Practice my teacher didn't leave as many comments but still had a few things to say. Though she did have one more good thing for me than the last work I wrote about. Like I said before no small improvements but I'll take it. I wrote a synthesis argument on why my local school cafeterias should have it so that they don't serve the kids any meat every Monday from now on during lunch. I didn't actually agree. I just wrote from that stance because I figured it'd be much easier to get a better grade that way. I was told my thesis had a strong defensible posistion, that I effectively used multiple sources, and that I made a relevant connection between the main things being discussed in my synthesis. Though I still messed up a few things like starting with my evidence and not my claim, not providing a more detailed analysis of my evidence, and my interpretation of the sources didn't always align with their context.

Synthesis Summative Assessment

And now we have my latest work: the Synthesis Summative Assesment. It was still kind of rough like all my other works since I didn't make a ton of progress this year. It was a synthesis about why social constructs are only good to an extent. This time I really only had one major point of criticism. I worked hard to make this one right and fix what needed to be fixed. That point of criticism was that I still skipped straight to my evidence rather than starting with my claim. I think there's a pattern here. Ayways I accidentally risked letting my evidence take over but I was told how I did a good job using some other evidence and that my third paragraph is my strongest argument paragraph. The rest was just the teacher asking me questions about further exploring one of my claims and one of my pieces of evidence. Over all. A rough year. No major improvements. But in the end I made it out alright.

It's been a very bumpy ride for this years English class. AP Lang was way harder than I ever thought it would be. My first mistake was underestimating this class because I had no problem handling Honors English. AP Lang and my assignments are supposed to help students improve their writing and argument skills. And though I don't feel I've improved much over time I still had to try and put together good arguments on morality, ethics,
