The Fault In Our Stars reflects on new and important things that can happen to someone and ruin their life. This book has completely broadened my perspective on cancer and how much it can affect not just the person that has it but everyone around him/her. All three main character's in this book, Hazel Grace, Augustus, and Isaac have had some type of cancer. there cancer has affected their lives, their families lives, and even their friends lives. I have learned that if you know someone close that has cancer you have to be ready or know that something can and will happen in a matter of seconds. A quote from the book that helps me understand this even more is when Hazel was in the ICU just before her miracle happened and her mom said "it's okay to let go" (Green 116). Her family was ready and knew it was time but they were still hurt because her mom also sobbed and said "I won't be a mom anymore." (Green 117). These two quotes help me understand and realize you have to be ready and prepared that cancer can take someone's life in a matter of seconds but also that you have to be ready and willing even if it is hard or sad.
