I really liked the vlog camera angles and colour. I used this idea in my film.

I really liked the quick cut film shots. I took this and instead used photos.

I really liked this vlog because of the font, clear and consistent film.

For this film I used my Kodak Pixel-Pro camera, and my iPhone. However, in hindsight, the video quality of my phone was way clearer and more colourful than the camera. Although this doesn’t affect the overall assignment, it is still an important note. Additionally, I also decided to take the audio away from some of my clips that I shot, yet keeping some of the others. This was a deliberate choice as some of my clips either didn’t have audio, or it didn’t make sense. Therefore, I opted to cherry picking the audio I wanted to use.

I successfully utilised adobes Audition to create a soundtrack that served as the basic scaffold for my film. I exploited the copyright free audio from Pixabay and audio from Toby Fox’s Undertale to create music that was both soft and warm, yet energetic and comedic at times. According to Materia Music Publishing, the audio from Undertale ‘…you are welcome to include most melodies administered by Materia Music Publishing (including the original recordings from the UNDERTALE® and DELTARUNE® soundtracks) in your videos as long as you’re doing so non-commercially…’ therefore, I am entitled to use the audio from Undertale, given I am doing so non-commercially. Within audition I was able to Equalize the audio to become stable and within range, never going past the red sound bar. Utilising the multitrack feature, I was able to effortlessly blend the audio tracks together to create a single concise audio track, allowing for my film to feel livelier and more comedic.

I took inspiration from some users on TikTok to create my film, taking apart scenes, such as the quick photo slides, the warm and saturated colour palate and overall vlog camera style, giving the film an overall 2016 vlogger aesthetic. Using videos as inspiration of my film allowed for me to gain a greater sense of understanding for the film and the software as well. Using adobe Premiere Pro I was successfully able to create and edit my film perfectly following my own creative idea and inspiration. For me, the visual storytelling of my film was incredibly important, hence by I choose to oversaturate the colour grading, use soft ambience and sound layering methods, and kept consistent visual effects and narrative flow, while also keeping simple and short transitions.

Overall, through the course of this assignment I have learned a variety of complex skills and technical abilities. I have utilised both adobe Audition and adobe Premiere Pro to create a beautiful, warm toned, nostalgic vlog style film. Following this, within this assignment I have successfully implemented aesthetics, technical skills, and capacities and gathered a great understanding of motion and sound design, concepts and techniques.
