Who Am I?

My name is Resia Mae Donayre, and I am 21 years old. I currently live in Pondol, Balamban, Cebu, and I am a third-year college student pursuing a Bachelor in Elementary Education at CTU Tuburan Campus. As the eldest in my family, I take great pride in setting an example for my two younger siblings. In my free time, I enjoy playing volleyball and badminton. I also love watching K-dramas, action movies, and occasionally horror films, although they scare me at times. I am a fan of BTS and Blackpink, and their music inspires me. When I’m not studying, I like hanging out with my peers at our boarding house.

I love the color pink, although I sometimes prefer black or dark blue. I have sensitive skin that reacts to cold or hot weather by developing hives—itchy, raised welts that can sting or hurt. This condition is hereditary, as I inherited it from my father. Despite this, I remain active and enjoy life. I grew up with strict yet loving parents, and I cherish my close bond with my siblings.

One of my strongest motivations is proving myself to those who doubted or belittled me. I remain determined to push through. I am aware that life will continue to present new obstacles, but I am confident in my ability to overcome them. As the saying goes, "Mistakes can make you stronger," and I believe every difficulty I face only helps me grow into a better version of myself.

My Biggest Fear

One of my biggest fears in life is the possibility of failure, especially when it comes to achieving my dreams and making my family proud. As the eldest child, I carry a significant responsibility on my shoulders. I fear disappointing not only myself but also my parents and siblings, who look up to me as a role model. This fear sometimes keeps me awake at night, thinking about what would happen if I failed to reach my goals. I often worry about financial struggles, unexpected setbacks, or even my own weaknesses getting in the way of my success.

This fear stems from the sacrifices my family have made to support me. My father works hard as a chef, and my mother juggles managing our household and running a small business, all to ensure my siblings and I have better opportunities in life. I don’t want to let their efforts go to waste. I fear not being able to prove wrong the people who once doubted me or belittled me.

However, I try to use this fear as motivation. Instead of letting it consume me, I remind myself that setbacks are a natural part of life. My fear of failure pushes me to work harder, stay focused, and believe in my ability to overcome challenges. It also reminds me that every small step forward is a victory in itself, and as long as I keep trying.

What Keeps Me Going?

What keeps me going in life is the unwavering support and love of my family, as well as my determination to achieve my dreams and make them proud. My parents have worked so hard to provide for us—my father tirelessly working as a chef and my mother managing both our household and a small business. Their sacrifices remind me every day why I need to keep pushing forward. I want to repay their efforts by becoming successful and giving them a better life someday. My siblings also inspire me to keep going. As the eldest, I know they look up to me, and I want to set a good example for them by showing that hard work and perseverance can lead to success.

I also find strength in my personal aspirations and the challenges I’ve overcome. I remind myself of the times I struggled but refused to give up, using those moments as proof that I can handle whatever comes my way. The hurtful words of people who doubted me, like my father’s eldest sister, have become fuel for my determination. I am motivated to prove that I am capable of great things, not out of spite, but to show myself that I can rise above negativity.

Lastly, I find encouragement in the belief that every step I take, no matter how small, brings me closer to my goals. My journey may not be easy, but my dreams and the love of my family keep me moving forward.
