         <description><![CDATA[<div>The 504 Plan is a plan developed to ensure that a child who has a disability identified under the law and is attending an elementary or secondary educational institution receives accommodations that will ensure their academic success and access to the learning environment.</div><div>-          504 plans should be updated annually to ensure that the students are receiving the most effective accommodations.  </div><div>-          Students who do not fall under special education to receive accommodations through IDEA, is able to receive accommodations through a 504. </div><div>-          504 plans are designed to level out the playing field. Students with disabilities should be able to learn along side their peers. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>School counselors are not in a position to diagnose a student with any type of disorder. Although a school counselor does not diagnose disorders, they need to be familiar with the characteristics of each disorder. This allows them to implement any prevention and intervention strategies that will allow the students to be successful. <br><br></div><div>The school counselor should educate the school staff members on the signs and symptoms of various disorders. This will help teachers identify any students who may require accommodations. <br><br></div><div>The school counselor’s role is to make referrals to the appropriate professionals when necessary (ASCA, 2019). <br><br></div>]]></description>
