Like it because it is not limited to a certain programming language; there is so much to do with it in the real world and who knows what the next invention will be.

That was probably the original incentive--my own gaming benefit. That's how I became interested in Android development, I really wanted to root my phone, but I was too young to figure it out and probably installed lot's of malware. After a year or two, I got a new phone and started using a PC to try and root it with commandline tools. I eventually succeeded, and hacked a lot of games.
Later, in 6th/7th grade, I took my first programming class. It wasn't much, it was learning Visual Basic in Excel. I started making little games in VBA--mostly simple games that involved much clicking; there's not much you can do as a beginner in VB.
